The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses a patient's psychological status and provides appropriate interventions
- Collaborates with nursing and ancillary service to provide appropriate psychological therapy for patient. Refers patients to other disciplines for consult and evaluations as indicated.
- Provides psychological expertise and education to multidisciplinary teams. Acts as resource to other disciplines.
- Communicates complex/sensitive information to patients and medical staff.
- Administers and interprets psychological tests used for diagnosing mental and personality disorders and differentiating between organic and functional cases of behavior disorders.
Complexity of Work:
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Education:
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Required Credential(s):
- Psychologist credentialed from the New York Board of Psychology obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
