Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner
Verify your NP credentials meet TN standards
TN classification for nurses requires a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in nursing. Canadian NPs trained at the master's level clear this easily, but Mexican NPs should confirm their licenciatura aligns with USCIS's defined credential requirements before applying to U.S. cardiac positions.
Obtain NCLEX licensure before employer outreach
U.S. employers hiring a Cardiology NP on TN status will require an active state RN license as a baseline. Clear NCLEX and apply for licensure in your target state before approaching cardiac care employers so sponsorship conversations don't stall on credential gaps.
Target health systems with recent visa sponsorship experience
Large academic medical centers and regional cardiac networks are far more likely to have HR and legal processes already set up for work visa sponsorship. Search Migrate Mate to find Cardiology NP roles filtered by employers with recent visa filings and experience sponsoring international professionals.
Request a TN support letter specifying cardiology duties
Your employer's support letter must describe your role in terms that map directly to the Nurse category, including specific cardiac care responsibilities. A generic nursing letter can trigger scrutiny at the port of entry, so work with HR to make the cardiology scope explicit.
Understand Mexican nationals face a TN cap
Mexico's TN allocation is capped at 5,500 per year across all professions. Mexican Cardiology NPs should factor in this constraint when timing applications and confirm with USCIS that petition volume hasn't approached the annual limit before accepting an offer.
Clarify renewal timing with your employer before signing
TN status is granted in three-year increments and must be renewed before expiration. Confirm during the offer stage that your employer will initiate renewal paperwork at least 90 days out, since lapses in status affect your ability to keep working in the cardiac unit.

Find Cardiology Nurse Practitioner JobsCardiology Nurse Practitioner TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. The TN visa includes a Nurse category that covers Nurse Practitioners, including those working in cardiology specialties. Your employer must provide a support letter describing your cardiology-specific duties, and you must hold a qualifying nursing degree and active U.S. state licensure. Canadian citizens apply at the port of entry; Mexican nationals go through USCIS.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Cardiology NPs?
TN is almost always the better route for Cardiology NPs who qualify. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and employers can sponsor you for a three-year period with straightforward renewals. The H-1B process involves a lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate, months of USCIS processing, and significantly higher filing costs for employers, making many cardiac care employers reluctant to sponsor it.
What credentials do Mexican Cardiology NPs need to qualify?
Mexican Cardiology NPs need a licenciatura degree in nursing, which is recognized as equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate for TN purposes. You'll also need NCLEX passage, an active state RN license in your target state, and any NP-specific certifications your employer requires, such as AGACNP-BC or ACNP-BC credentials relevant to cardiac care roles.
Where can I find Cardiology Nurse Practitioner jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter for Cardiology NP roles by employers who have a track record of sponsoring TN visa professionals, saving you from cold-applying to health systems that have never navigated TN paperwork. That filtering step alone cuts down weeks of back-and-forth with recruiters who aren't familiar with TN sponsorship.
Can a Canadian Cardiology NP apply for TN status at the border without a USCIS petition?
Yes. Canadian citizens can present their TN application directly at a U.S. port of entry or pre-clearance facility without filing a USCIS petition first. You'll need your employer's support letter, credential documents, and proof of NCLEX licensure. CBP officers adjudicate on the spot, and approval typically takes under an hour at most land border crossings.
