Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Diagnostic Radiologist
Verify your credentials meet USMCA standards
TN eligibility for Diagnostic Radiologist requires an M.D. or D.O. degree. If your medical degree is from outside North America, confirm your ECFMG certification is current before approaching any U.S. employer about sponsorship.
Target health systems with existing TN filing experience
Academic medical centers and large regional hospital networks file TN petitions regularly for specialist physicians. Prioritize employers whose radiology departments already have international staff, as they understand the process and won't treat your status as an obstacle.
Search TN-sponsoring radiology employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Diagnostic Radiologist openings at employers with active TN visa sponsorship history. It filters roles by visa type so you're not applying blind to positions where sponsorship is unlikely.
Get your state medical license before the offer stage
CBP officers and hospital credentialing teams both require proof of state licensure or eligibility. Apply for your target state's medical license as soon as you identify your preferred job markets, since processing can take several months.
Ask your employer to document the specialty occupation link
The TN support letter must explicitly connect your M.D. or D.O. credentials to the Diagnostic Radiologist role. Generic physician letters get flagged at the border. Request that the letter detail your subspecialty, imaging modalities, and how your degree directly qualifies you.
Understand the port-of-entry option if you're Canadian
Canadian radiologists can activate TN status directly at a land border or airport without a prior visa appointment. Bring your employer support letter, medical license, degree certificate, and job offer letter. USCIS adjudicates on the spot, so document organization matters.

Find Diagnostic Radiologist JobsDiagnostic Radiologist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Diagnostic Radiologist qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Diagnostic Radiologist is explicitly listed as a qualifying occupation under USMCA's TN visa category for physicians. You must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree, have a bona fide job offer from a U.S. employer, and hold or be eligible for a state medical license. The role must involve direct patient care or diagnostic interpretation, not solely administrative duties.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Diagnostic Radiologist positions?
TN is faster and more predictable for this role. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no lengthy USCIS adjudication period. Canadian radiologists can receive TN approval at the port of entry on the day they apply. H-1B requires lottery selection, a cap-subject petition, and months of processing. The tradeoff is that TN doesn't allow dual intent, meaning it's not a direct path to a green card.
What documents does a U.S. employer need to sponsor a TN visa for a radiologist?
The employer prepares a support letter on company letterhead that states your job title, a description of duties, the specialty occupation basis, your credentials, and the anticipated duration of employment. They don't file a petition with USCIS for Canadian applicants. Mexican nationals require a TN visa stamp from a U.S. consulate, which involves a DS-160 form and interview in addition to the employer letter.
Can I use Migrate Mate to find Diagnostic Radiologist jobs that offer TN sponsorship?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN and other work visa job searches. You can filter Diagnostic Radiologist openings by visa sponsorship type, which surfaces employers already familiar with the TN process. That's a meaningful filter for radiologists, since not every hospital system has experience sponsoring international physicians under USMCA.
Can Mexican radiologists apply for TN status the same way Canadians can?
No. Mexican nationals must obtain a TN visa stamp at a U.S. consulate before entering to work, while Canadians can apply directly at a port of entry. Mexican TN applicants complete a DS-160 form, pay the MRV fee, attend an interview, and wait for visa issuance. The occupation eligibility criteria are identical, but the process and timeline differ significantly.
