Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner
Align your credentials to U.S. NP licensure standards
TN classification requires a valid U.S. state NP license or proof you've met all requirements for one. Canadian NPs credentialed through provincial bodies should verify NCLEX-RN equivalency and any state-specific palliative care NP scope restrictions before applying.
Target hospice organizations and academic medical centers
Palliative care programs embedded in academic medical centers and large hospice networks file TN letters more routinely than outpatient clinics. Search for institutions with dedicated palliative care departments, since they understand the documentation requirements for specialty NP roles.
Request a specialty-specific offer letter from your employer
Generic NP offer letters often trigger TN denials. Ask your employer to explicitly state 'palliative and end-of-life care' as your practice area and reference the USMCA Nurse category. A vague letter creates unnecessary CBP scrutiny at the port of entry.
Search for TN-ready roles using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner roles by employers with recent visa filings. This helps you target companies experienced with work visa sponsorship, increasing your chances of finding roles compatible with TN eligibility requirements, and saving weeks of uncertainty.
Understand Mexican TN applicants face a separate consular step
Unlike Canadians who apply directly at the border, Mexican citizens must attend a consular interview at a U.S. embassy. Prepare your employment offer, credential documents, and NP license well in advance, as appointment slots in major cities can book out several weeks.
Secure employer acknowledgment of TN renewal obligations
TN status is granted in three-year increments and requires employer reaffirmation at each renewal. Confirm before accepting an offer that your employer will re-execute the support letter and that your NP license remains current in the applicable state at renewal time.

Find Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner JobsPalliative Care Nurse Practitioner TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes. Palliative Care Nurse Practitioners qualify under the USMCA Nurse category, which covers registered nurses and nurse practitioners. Your offer letter must clearly describe palliative and end-of-life care duties, and you must hold a valid U.S. state NP license or meet all requirements for one at the time of application.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Palliative Care Nurse Practitioners?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and can be approved at the port of entry the same day you apply. H-1B requires employer sponsorship through a competitive lottery, a cap wait of months or years, and significantly more paperwork. For most Canadian palliative care NPs, TN is faster and more predictable than H-1B.
What documents do I need to present at the border as a Canadian NP seeking TN status?
You'll need a valid Canadian passport, a detailed employer support letter confirming the Nurse category under USMCA, proof of your NP license in the hiring state, and your nursing degree credentials. Some CBP officers also ask for NCLEX-RN results or a credential evaluation. Having organized originals rather than copies reduces the risk of secondary inspection.
Where can I find Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking roles with TN visa sponsorship. You can filter by job title and employer sponsorship history, which is more targeted than general job searches. This is especially useful for a specialized role like palliative care NP, where sponsoring employers are a smaller subset of the overall market.
Can I switch palliative care employers while on TN status without losing my authorization?
TN status is tied to a specific employer, so you cannot begin work with a new employer under your current TN approval. Your new palliative care employer must obtain a fresh TN authorization before your start date, either at a port of entry or through USCIS if you're already inside the U.S. Plan for at least a few weeks of lead time between accepting an offer and your first day.
