Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Care Assistant
Verify your credentials meet TN requirements
Care Assistant roles can qualify under the TN visa Medical/Allied Professional category, but only if your credential matches what CBP expects. A diploma from an accredited college or a provincial health aide certification strengthens your case at the border.
Target employers with active USMCA hiring experience
Long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and assisted living operators that already employ TN workers are far more likely to draft a compliant offer letter the first time, which is the single document CBP scrutinizes most closely.
Search TN-sponsored Care Assistant roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Care Assistant jobs by TN visa sponsorship availability, so you're only seeing employers already prepared to support the USMCA filing process, not learning about it for the first time.
Get your offer letter TN-compliant before traveling
Your employer's offer letter must state your job title, duties, TN classification, and that the position is temporary in nature. A letter missing any of these details can result in CBP denial at the port of entry, even with a strong credential package.
Understand Mexico's TN cap before you plan your timeline
Mexican citizens are subject to a 5,500 annual TN cap, unlike Canadians who face no numerical limit. Apply early in the fiscal year if you're a Mexican national, since the quota can affect timing significantly.
Renew your TN status before the three-year period ends
TN status is granted in three-year increments with no cap on renewals. File your renewal with USCIS or return to a port of entry before your current status expires to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Care Assistant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Care Assistant role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Care Assistant positions can qualify under the TN Medical/Allied Professional category if the role involves direct patient or personal care support and you hold a relevant credential, such as a provincial health aide certificate or an accredited college diploma in a health-related field. CBP makes the final determination at the port of entry based on your documents and employer letter.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Care Assistant jobs?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no numerical cap for Canadians, which means you can apply any time of year and start work as soon as CBP approves your application at the border. The H-1B visa requires employer sponsorship months in advance, a lottery selection, and a mandatory October 1 start date. For most Care Assistants, TN is a faster and more predictable path.
What documents do I need for Care Assistant TN visa sponsorship?
You'll need a valid Canadian or Mexican passport, a compliant employer offer letter that specifies your TN job category and duties, and proof of your professional credentials, such as a diploma or provincial certification. If your degree or certificate is from outside Canada or Mexico, a credential evaluation from an approved agency may also be required by CBP.
How do I find Care Assistant jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Care Assistant roles filtered by TN visa sponsorship availability, so you can identify employers already set up to support USMCA-based hiring rather than approaching employers who are unfamiliar with the process. Targeting experienced sponsors reduces delays and avoids offer letters that fail CBP review.
Can I switch Care Assistant employers after entering on a TN visa?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your sponsoring employer. If you change jobs, your new employer must support a fresh TN application, either at a U.S. port of entry or through a USCIS petition. You cannot begin work for the new employer until the new TN is approved, so plan your transition timeline accordingly.
