TN Visa Registered Nurse Operating Room Jobs
Operating room nursing requires NCLEX licensure, active state RN credentials, and demonstrated perioperative experience before a U.S. employer can file your TN visa sponsorship. Canadian citizens qualify immediately at the border; Mexican citizens enter through consular processing. Both pathways require a formal job offer and proof your RN role meets USMCA specialty criteria.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Registered Nurse Operating Room
Verify your perioperative credentials match U.S. standards
U.S. employers filing TN sponsorship for OR nurses require active NCLEX-RN passage and a state license. If you hold a Canadian provincial nursing registration, confirm the state board accepts it directly before applying.
Target hospitals with dedicated OR expansion programs
Health systems actively opening surgical suites or trauma centers are more likely to sponsor TN visas for OR nurses. Search postings that mention perioperative teams, CVOR, or robotics-assisted surgery programs as hiring priorities.
Request a TN support letter before your border crossing
Canadian RNs can complete TN admission at a port of entry, but your employer must provide a detailed support letter specifying your OR role, duties, and USMCA eligibility. Bring your NCLEX certificate, state license, and degree transcript.
Search TN-sponsored OR nursing roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter operating room nursing positions by employers who have filed TN visa sponsorship before. That history signals they understand the process and won't withdraw an offer over paperwork questions.
Clarify specialty scope with HR before accepting any offer
Some OR positions straddle scrub tech and circulator duties. Confirm the posted title says Registered Nurse and that your offer letter describes RN-scope tasks only, since TN classification depends on the role matching USMCA's nurse category precisely.
Understand how Mexican TN processing differs from Canadian
Mexican citizens cannot self-petition at the border and must apply at a U.S. consulate. Appointment wait times at Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Ciudad Juárez vary by season, so factor two to six weeks into your start date negotiation with the employer.

Find Registered Nurse Operating Room JobsRegistered Nurse Operating Room TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an operating room RN role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Registered Nurse is an explicitly listed USMCA occupation, and operating room specialization falls within that category as long as your offer letter describes RN-scope duties. The role must require a nursing degree and active licensure. Scrub technician or surgical tech titles do not qualify under the RN category, so title accuracy on your offer letter matters.
How does TN visa sponsorship for OR nurses compare to H-1B?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, meaning your employer can file any time of year and you can start work as soon as the TN is approved. H-1B requires entering a randomized lottery with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection. For Canadian and Mexican OR nurses, TN is faster, cheaper, and far more predictable than H-1B for qualifying roles.
What documents does my employer need to file TN sponsorship for an OR nursing role?
Your employer needs to prepare a detailed support letter confirming your job title, OR duties, and USMCA eligibility. You'll need to provide your NCLEX-RN passing certificate, current state nursing license, nursing degree transcripts, and a valid passport. For Canadian nurses seeking entry at a port of entry, these documents are submitted directly to CBP rather than to USCIS in advance.
Where can I find operating room nursing jobs that include TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for U.S. roles with TN visa sponsorship. You can filter for operating room nursing positions by employers who have a documented history of TN filings, which removes the uncertainty of approaching employers who have never navigated the process before.
Can I switch OR nursing employers while on a TN visa?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your current employer. You'll need your new employer to file a new TN petition or support a port-of-entry application before you begin working for them. Canadian nurses often handle this at the border, while Mexican nurses need a new consular appointment. Avoid any gap in employment that could create a status issue.
