Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Infrastructure Platform Engineer
Frame your credentials around Computer Systems Analyst
TN visa eligibility for this role hinges on the Computer Systems Analyst classification. Your resume, degree certificates, and offer letter must consistently describe systems analysis and design work, not just operations or administration tasks.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Companies with recent visa filings for platform or infrastructure roles have already navigated work visa sponsorship. Prioritize those employers, since they understand visa documentation requirements and are less likely to back out during the offer process. For TN visas specifically, Canadian applicants can present their offer letter and documentation directly at the U.S. port of entry, while Mexican applicants apply through a U.S. consulate—both processes are simpler than other work visas, so experienced sponsors tend to move forward smoothly.
Get your job offer letter TN-ready before crossing
Canadians can obtain TN status directly at a port of entry, but only if the offer letter explicitly describes duties that map to Computer Systems Analyst. A vague or operations-heavy job description is the most common reason CBP officers push back at the border.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship roles
Searching for Infrastructure Platform Engineer jobs that explicitly support TN visa candidates saves significant time. Migrate Mate filters roles by sponsorship eligibility so you're not wasting applications on employers who have never filed for TN workers.
Address the specialty occupation question proactively
Platform engineering roles sometimes blend DevOps generalist tasks with specialized systems work. Before your interview, prepare a brief explanation of how your specific duties, not just your title, require a specialized bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field.
Clarify who files what before you accept an offer
Unlike H-1B, TN does not require the employer to petition USCIS on your behalf for a Canadian national. Confirm early whether your prospective employer understands this distinction, since HR teams unfamiliar with TN often assume a full USCIS filing is required and may delay unnecessarily.

Find Infrastructure Platform Engineer JobsInfrastructure Platform Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Infrastructure Platform Engineer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, provided the role maps to the Computer Systems Analyst category under USMCA. Infrastructure Platform Engineer duties, such as designing cloud infrastructure, automating deployments, and managing platform reliability, align with systems analysis and design work. The offer letter must describe those duties explicitly. Roles that focus primarily on break-fix operations rather than systems design carry more risk of pushback.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian nationals, so you can start work as soon as status is granted, sometimes the same day at a port of entry. H-1B requires employer sponsorship through USCIS, a lottery selection, and a wait until October 1 of the fiscal year. For Infrastructure Platform Engineers with Canadian citizenship, TN is significantly faster and more predictable than H-1B.
Where can I find Infrastructure Platform Engineer jobs that support TN visa candidates?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking U.S. roles with TN visa sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job boards where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces Infrastructure Platform Engineer positions from employers with recent visa filings and demonstrated experience sponsoring work visas, reducing the time you spend on applications that will stall at the offer stage.
Can a Mexican national get TN sponsorship for this role, and how does the process differ?
Yes, Mexican nationals qualify for TN status in the Computer Systems Analyst category, but the process differs from Canadians. Mexican applicants must apply at a U.S. consulate and receive a TN visa stamp before traveling. Processing timelines depend on consulate availability. There is also a separate numerical allocation for Mexican TN visas under USMCA, though demand has historically remained below that cap.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for my TN sponsorship?
Your employer must provide a detailed support letter on company letterhead that describes your specific job duties, confirms the role requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field, states your TN classification, lists your salary, and specifies the employment period. The letter is not filed with USCIS for Canadian nationals applying at the border. It is presented directly to CBP along with your credentials and, for Mexican nationals, submitted as part of the consular application.
