Job Title:
Open Rank Professor of AI in Marketing and Logistics
Department:
Fisher College | Marketing and Logistics
The Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (open rank) with a focus in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Candidates will be appointed in the Department of Marketing and Logistics (with a potential for joint appointments across departments or colleges) but must demonstrate significant AI expertise as a core element of their scholarship whether through the creation of new AI methods or novel use of AI techniques that materially advance knowledge, methods, or practice in their discipline. For this search, “AI” includes (but is not limited to) machine learning (ML), deep learning, reinforcement learning, optimization for/with ML, probabilistic modeling, trustworthy/responsible AI (fairness, safety, privacy, robustness, interpretability), human-centered AI, NLP, computer vision, robotics, scientific/physics-informed ML, AI systems and infrastructure, as well as domain-driven AI advancements in and across disciplines.
In addition to the disciplinary requirements for potential selection as a faculty in the Department of Marketing and Logistics, a qualified candidate will develop, advance, or rigorously evaluate AI methods, lead AI-centered applications that produce generalizable methodological advances (e.g., new algorithms, models, evaluation frameworks, datasets/benchmarks, or system designs), or design/adapt AI approaches to solve previously intractable questions in a domain leading to generalizable insights and advancements. Routine use of off-the-shelf AI tools that do not produce methodological innovation, or field-advancing knowledge is not sufficient for an AI faculty hire. Moreover, candidates must demonstrate the ability to combine AI-related research with substantive problems and issues in marketing, working collaboratively with department faculty and doctoral students.
Immigration/visa sponsorship may be available in very limited situations (e.g., F1/OPT to H-1b, H-1b change of employer), but all decisions concerning immigration/visa sponsorship will depend on an evaluation of complexity and risk.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Logistics Specialist
Verify your credential matches the role
TN visa approval depends on your degree field aligning with logistics work. A business administration, industrial engineering, or supply chain degree typically supports the classification. A degree in an unrelated field without documented logistics coursework raises officer scrutiny at the port of entry.
Target companies with active supply chain operations
Freight forwarders, third-party logistics providers, and large retail distribution centers file TN petitions regularly. Prioritize employers who already move goods across the U.S.-Canada or U.S.-Mexico border, since their HR teams understand cross-border work authorization and expect to sponsor TN professionals.
Request a support letter before your port crossing
Your employer's offer letter must specify your job title as Logistics Specialist, your start date, your duties, and the TN category. A vague letter citing only salary and location is a common reason CBP officers request additional documentation or deny entry on the spot.
Search TN-ready employers using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Logistics Specialist roles at companies with TN visa sponsorship history. Filtering by sponsorship status saves time by surfacing employers who have already navigated the TN process for similar roles, rather than educating HR from scratch.
Understand Mexico's TN cap before accepting an offer
Mexican nationals are subject to an annual TN allocation of 5,500 visas under USMCA. If you're Mexican, confirm with your prospective employer early in the offer process that they can file promptly, since delays can push your start date past the fiscal year allocation window.
File an amended petition when your duties shift
If your logistics role expands into customs brokerage oversight or procurement management after you start, USCIS requires an amended TN petition to reflect the change. Failing to update your petition creates status violations that complicate future renewals or transfers to other visa categories.
Logistics Specialist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Logistics Specialist role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, Logistics Specialist is a recognized occupation under the USMCA TN visa category for management consultants and certain engineering and business professionals when the role requires specialized knowledge and a relevant bachelor's degree. The specific job duties matter: coordinating freight movements, managing supply chain operations, or overseeing distribution networks all support TN classification, while clerical or warehouse tasks without a degree requirement do not.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Logistics Specialist roles?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and approval is often granted the same day at the border. H-1B visa requires registration in a randomized lottery in April, a months-long processing timeline, and employer-paid USCIS fees. For Canadian professionals with a qualifying logistics degree and a U.S. job offer, TN is faster, cheaper, and more predictable than the H-1B process.
Where can I find Logistics Specialist jobs with TN sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers and lists Logistics Specialist openings at employers with recent visa filings, indicating experience with visa sponsorship processes. Searching through a platform focused on visa-sponsoring employers saves significant time compared to filtering general job listings and then vetting each company's willingness to sponsor a TN visa individually.
Can I switch Logistics Specialist employers on TN status?
Yes, but you cannot simply transfer your existing TN authorization. Your new employer must either support you obtaining a new TN at the border with a fresh offer letter, or file a new TN petition with USCIS on your behalf. You should not begin working for the new employer until the new TN is approved, since TN status is employer-specific.
What documents should my employer provide to support my TN application?
Your employer must provide a signed offer letter on company letterhead that states your job title as Logistics Specialist, a description of your daily duties, your anticipated start date, and confirmation that the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a related field. A vague letter is one of the most common reasons CBP officers at the port of entry request supplemental documentation or issue a denial.
