Align your degree to the right TN category
Territory Sales Manager roles are not a named TN category, so your degree field determines which category applies. A business or marketing degree supports Management Consultant; an engineering degree supports Engineer. Misalignment is the most common denial trigger.
Request a detailed offer letter from your employer
Your employer's offer letter must describe duties that match your TN category precisely. Generic sales language like 'manage a territory' won't satisfy a CBP officer. Ask HR to frame responsibilities around consulting, analysis, or technical functions your degree supports.
Target companies with cross-border sales operations
Employers who already manage Canadian or Mexican accounts are more familiar with TN visa logistics. Distribution-heavy industries like manufacturing, industrial supply, and medical devices regularly hire cross-border sales professionals and know what a TN offer letter requires.
Prepare a credential package before applying
CBP officers assess your qualifications at entry without advance USCIS review. Assemble your degree transcripts, a credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the U.S. or Canada, and any professional certifications before you accept an offer.
Search for TN-ready employers using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces Territory Sales Manager roles posted by employers with recent visa filings, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with sponsoring work visas. Filter by location and category to find roles that match your credential profile.
Understand the Mexican TN consular path before you accept
Mexican nationals cannot use the port-of-entry process and must schedule a consular interview. Appointment wait times vary significantly by city. Confirm your local consulate's current availability before committing to a start date with your employer.

Find Territory Sales Manager JobsTerritory Sales Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Territory Sales Manager role actually qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on how the role is structured and what degree you hold. Territory Sales Manager is not a listed TN occupation, but the position can qualify under the Management Consultant or Engineer category if your duties involve analytical or technical work and your degree aligns with that category. CBP makes the final determination at the port of entry or consulate, so your offer letter and credentials need to match the claimed category precisely.
How does TN visa sponsorship for this role compare to H-1B?
TN is faster and more predictable for Territory Sales Manager roles. There is no lottery, no annual cap for Canadian citizens, and Canadians can receive TN status at a port of entry on the day they travel. H-1B requires a March lottery, a months-long USCIS adjudication, and an October 1 start date. For sales roles that qualify under a TN category, most employers and candidates strongly prefer the TN route.
What does a TN-sponsoring employer actually have to do for this role?
The employer's main obligation is providing a detailed offer letter that describes the position, your duties, your qualifications, the terms of employment, and your TN category. For Canadian applicants, no government filing is required before your border crossing. Mexican applicants need their employer to support a DS-160 and attend a consulate interview. There is no USCIS petition required for either nationality under TN.
Where can I find Territory Sales Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It aggregates Territory Sales Manager postings from employers who sponsor TN visas and lets you filter by occupation category, location, and nationality eligibility. Searching general job boards typically surfaces roles without any indication of sponsorship willingness, which wastes time when your TN status depends on employer cooperation from day one.
Can I switch employers mid-year on a TN visa if I get a better offer?
Yes. TN status is employer-specific, so you need a new TN authorization with the new employer before you start working there. Canadian citizens can obtain new TN status at the port of entry with the new employer's offer letter. Mexican citizens must return to a U.S. consulate for a new visa stamp. Your existing TN does not carry over, and working for the new employer before the new authorization is in place is a status violation.
