Frame your credentials around advisory outcomes
TN visa approval under Management Consultant hinges on demonstrating that your role involves strategic counsel, not just account execution. Document client deliverables, campaign recommendations, and measurable business outcomes your advice produced before you apply.
Verify the job description matches TN categories
Not every Marketing Account Manager title qualifies. Ask your prospective employer to confirm the role requires a bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field and centers on client-facing advisory work, not internal operations or order management.
Search TN-ready employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Marketing Account Manager openings at employers experienced with visa sponsorship. Filtering for companies with recent visa filings helps you connect with hiring managers already familiar with sponsoring international talent, saving you time in the hiring process.
Prepare a support letter before the offer closes
Canadian applicants present a detailed employer support letter at the border, not a USCIS petition. Draft a letter template with your prospective employer early that specifies your duties, your degree field, and why the role qualifies under USMCA professional categories.
Ask about E-Verify before accepting any offer
Employers hiring TN workers must verify work authorization through E-Verify or Form I-9. Confirming your prospective employer runs compliant onboarding before you accept avoids delays on your first day that could affect payroll and benefits enrollment.
Plan your Mexican consulate appointment around campaign cycles
Mexican citizens obtain TN visas at a U.S. consulate, and appointment wait times vary by location and season. Schedule your interview well before any major client onboarding date, since marketing roles often have hard start dates tied to account launches.
Marketing Account Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Marketing Account Manager role qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on how the role is structured. Marketing Account Manager positions qualify under the TN Management Consultant category when the job requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field and centers on providing strategic advice to clients. Roles focused primarily on order processing or internal coordination, rather than client advisory work, are harder to support.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Marketing Account Manager roles?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start the process after you have a job offer without waiting for a selection date. H-1B visa requires registration in April and a lottery draw, with the earliest start date of October 1. For Mexican citizens, TN has a limited annual allocation, but the timeline is still faster and more predictable than the H-1B cycle.
Where can I find Marketing Account Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Marketing Account Manager roles at employers with recent visa filings, so you're not cold-applying to companies inexperienced with work visa sponsorship. Filtering by visa type and role category saves significant time compared to manually screening job postings.
Can my employer sponsor my TN visa if they've never done it before?
Yes. Unlike H-1B, TN for Canadian citizens doesn't require a USCIS petition, so an employer new to visa sponsorship can participate with relatively low administrative burden. They'll need to issue a support letter and complete Form I-9 or E-Verify onboarding. Walking your HR team through TN requirements early in the process helps avoid delays at the border or consulate.
What happens to my TN status if I switch to a different employer or client account structure?
Changing employers requires a new TN authorization. If your duties change materially, such as moving from a client advisory role to an internal management function, your existing TN may no longer cover the position. Canadian citizens can apply for a new TN at a port of entry; Mexican citizens need a new consulate appointment. Starting the new authorization process before your last day with the previous employer avoids gaps in work authorization.
