Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Marketing Consultant
Frame your credentials as consulting-specific
TN visa officers evaluate whether your degree directly supports a consulting engagement, not just a general business role. A marketing degree paired with a project scope letter is stronger than a broad MBA with no defined client mandate.
Target companies with recent visa filings
Employers with recent visa filings for management or marketing consultant roles demonstrate experience with work visa sponsorship. Searching for companies with documented filing history in these occupational areas helps identify hiring teams familiar with visa-sponsored employment processes.
Clarify the consulting scope in your offer letter
USCIS and CBP officers look for project-based language, a defined client base, and an end objective. Generic marketing manager duties can trigger a denial. Ask your employer to specify the consulting engagement, deliverables, and client relationship explicitly.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready employers
Migrate Mate filters job listings by TN visa sponsorship availability for consulting roles, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the category. Start your search there before approaching employers directly.
Prepare for CBP inspection if you're Canadian
Canadian citizens apply at the port of entry with no consular appointment, but CBP officers can still request additional documentation. Bring your degree transcripts, the signed offer letter, and any previous TN approval notices if you're renewing.
Negotiate TN renewal timing before you sign
TN status is tied to the employer and the specific role. If your consulting project ends early or your title changes, your TN may need to be refiled. Confirm with your employer whether they'll sponsor an amended TN if the engagement scope shifts.
Marketing Consultant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Marketing Consultant role qualify for TN visa status?
It can, but the job title alone isn't enough. CBP and consular officers evaluate whether the duties match the USMCA's Management Consultant category, which requires project-based, advisory work for specific clients or business problems. A standard in-house marketing role with no consulting scope is unlikely to qualify. The offer letter's language is the deciding factor.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Marketing Consultant positions?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no multi-month USCIS processing wait. H-1B visa selection is random and capped at 85,000 annually, so many qualified applicants are never selected. For Marketing Consultants with Canadian or Mexican citizenship, TN is a faster and more predictable path, as long as the role's consulting scope is documented clearly.
Where can I find Marketing Consultant jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter by TN visa sponsorship, which means you'll spend significant time cold-applying to employers who aren't set up for it. Migrate Mate is built specifically for USMCA professionals and shows Marketing Consultant roles where employers are already open to TN sponsorship, reducing the back-and-forth during offer negotiations.
Can my employer change my job duties after my TN is approved?
Material changes to your role, title, or scope of consulting work can invalidate your existing TN status. If your engagement shifts from client-facing advisory work to internal marketing operations, your employer may need to file a new TN with updated documentation. Clarify with your employer upfront whether they'll support an amended TN if the role evolves.
What documents do I need to support a Marketing Consultant TN application?
You'll need a signed offer letter describing the consulting engagement in project-specific terms, your educational credentials showing a degree in marketing, business, or a related field, and proof of Canadian or Mexican citizenship. Mexican nationals also need a valid visa appointment at a U.S. consulate. Migrate Mate can help you identify employers who already have this documentation process in place.
