Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Ultrasound Technologist
Confirm your credential meets TN standards
ARDMS registration is the credential most U.S. employers and CBP officers expect for TN classification. If you hold ARRT sonography credentials instead, verify with the prospective employer that their TN support letter can document that equivalency clearly.
Target hospital systems with active TN pipelines
Large hospital networks and imaging centers file TN support letters regularly and have HR teams familiar with the process. Outpatient clinics and solo radiology practices often do not, so asking about TN experience before your first interview saves significant time.
Get your employer's support letter right the first time
The support letter must name your specific sonography specialty, confirm the degree requirement, and cite the USMCA Medical/Allied Health category. Vague letters citing only a job title are the leading reason CBP officers ask for secondary inspection.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers fast
Searching for TN-ready employers manually is slow and unreliable. Migrate Mate filters Ultrasound Technologist roles by employer experience with visa sponsorship, so you spend time on applications that can actually move forward rather than positions that stall at the HR stage.
Prepare modality-specific documentation before applying
Employers hiring for cardiac, vascular, or obstetric ultrasound often require modality-specific credentials beyond general sonography registration. Gathering those certificates before you apply lets you respond to employer requests within days rather than weeks.
Understand how Mexican consular processing affects your timeline
Mexican citizens cannot self-petition at a port of entry like Canadians can. Your employer's support letter goes through consular processing, which adds scheduling lead time. Build at least six to eight weeks into your start date negotiation to account for appointment availability.

Find Ultrasound Technologist JobsUltrasound Technologist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Ultrasound Technologist role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Ultrasound Technologists qualify under the USMCA Medical/Allied Health Professionals category. The role must require a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree or equivalent, and your employer's support letter must confirm that the position meets that standard. ARDMS or ARRT sonography registration strengthens your case significantly at the port of entry or consular interview.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Ultrasound Technologist positions?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and no lengthy USCIS petition process for most cases. H-1B requires employer sponsorship through a lottery with roughly one-in-four selection odds and a wait of several months before work authorization begins. For Ultrasound Technologists with a qualifying credential and a U.S. job offer, TN is almost always the faster and more predictable path.
What credentials does a Canadian Ultrasound Technologist need to present at the border?
CBP officers typically expect your ARDMS or ARRT sonography credential, your degree certificate or transcripts, and your employer's TN support letter describing the role, your qualifications, and the USMCA category. Secondary inspection is more likely if any of these documents are missing or if the support letter does not specifically address the specialty occupation requirement.
How can I find Ultrasound Technologist jobs that actually offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job postings do not state whether an employer will support a TN application, which makes filtering by sponsorship willingness difficult. Migrate Mate focuses specifically on TN visa jobs and lets you search Ultrasound Technologist roles by employers who have confirmed sponsorship, so you are not spending time on applications that will stall before an offer is made.
Can a Mexican Ultrasound Technologist start work while their TN application is pending?
No. Mexican citizens must complete consular processing and receive their TN visa stamp before beginning work in the United States. Unlike Canadian citizens who can receive TN status at a port of entry and start work the same day, Mexican applicants need to factor consular appointment wait times into any start date agreement with their employer.
