Assistant Professor, Speech-Language Pathology
Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) on a 9-month tenure-track appointment with potential to teach in the summer for extra compensation. While all areas of expertise will be considered, the following areas of scholarship are desired: pediatric motor speech disorders, speech science, craniofacial disorders, and pediatric dysphagia.
Review of electronic applications begins October 30, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled.
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and has a large undergraduate program, a thriving graduate program in speech-language pathology, a growing doctor of audiology program, and is actively recruiting students into its new PhD program. Presently, the department has 21 full-time faculty positions (12 PhD, 3 AuD, and 6 Master’s level). The department offers the following degrees: the Bachelor of Science in Speech, Language and Hearing Science, a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology, a professional Doctor of Audiology degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences. The Department was the 3rd in the nation to be CAA accredited and is accredited in both speech-language pathology and audiology.
Auburn University has numerous university-wide and College of Liberal Arts intramural grant opportunities available for junior faculty to assist in the establishment or growth of research lines, including a two-course release for one semester prior to going up for tenure. Auburn University is a nationally ranked land grant institution recognized for its commitment to world-class scholarship, interdisciplinary research with an elite, top-tier Carnegie R1 classification, and an undergraduate and graduate education experience second to none. Auburn, Alabama is situated in the east-central portion of the state where the Piedmont joins the Coastal Plain; this region experiences mild winters and otherwise moderate temperatures. University enrollment exceeds 31,000 students, and the twin cities of Auburn and Opelika and surrounding area have more than 150,000 residents. Evidence of research interests and abilities, commitment to pursuing external funding, and demonstrated promise in teaching. Prior record of peer-reviewed journal publication and grant writing experience. Postdoctoral research experience. Holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and eligibility for Alabama state licensure.
