WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
Create a safer, stronger, people‑first culture at a site ready for its next step forward. At Saint‑Gobain, safety isn’t just a requirement, it’s a shared value and a daily commitment. Our Akron facility is looking for a hands‑on, people‑centered EHS leader who thrives on the plant floor, connects naturally with employees at all levels, and knows how to translate standards into behaviors that stick.
This is an exciting and pivotal moment for Akron. You will love this role if you are:
- Someone who believes that culture drives safety and not the other way around.
- A coach and influencer who earns trust through presence, listening, and partnership.
- A strategic thinker who can balance immediate needs with long‑term vision.
- A leader who finds energy and purpose in helping a site grow into its next phase of excellence.
Along with being a visible, people‑focused safety leader, the EHS Manager will play a critical role in shaping the long‑term direction of the Akron site:
- Align EHS priorities with site leadership goals, ensuring safety and sustainability are embedded in operations, process improvements, and decision‑making.
- Integrate leading indicators and risk‑based insights into strategic discussions, helping guide capital planning, equipment upgrades, and long‑term investments.
- Influence process improvements and equipment design, ensuring that safe operations are built into systems— not added after the fact.
- Champion Akron’s risk‑reduction roadmap, balancing quick wins with long‑term systemic improvements.
- Serve as a strategic partner on the Leadership Team, playing a key role in shaping culture, supporting organizational change, and driving performance across departments.
This role blends cultural leadership with strategic impact, giving the right person the opportunity to create immediate improvements while shaping the Akron facility for years to come.
- Lead and elevate our EHS culture, empowering employees and supervisors to take ownership of safe behaviors and daily decisions.
- Engage the workforce through coaching, mentoring, and meaningful presence on the production floor, building strong relationships in a union environment.
- Drive risk identification and reduction efforts, using visual tools, collaborative walk‑throughs, and problem‑solving to eliminate hazards.
- Guide the site’s compliance programs (OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001), ensuring requirements are met while making processes clear and accessible to all employees.
- Lead incident investigations and root‑cause analysis with a focus on learning, transparency, and preventing repeat events.
- Develop and deliver dynamic EHS training, using demonstrations, storytelling, and hands‑on coaching to reinforce behaviors.
- Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, and Corporate EHS to support continuous improvement aligned with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles.
- Build positive and collaborative relationships with outside stakeholders, including OSHA, EPA, first responders, and contractors.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Environmental/Safety Sciences, or related field.
- 6–8 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment with proven success reducing injuries and strengthening culture.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA/EPA regulations and ISO‑based systems; CSP preferred.
- Experience working with or supporting a union workforce is highly beneficial.
- A people‑first leadership style — visible, relatable, and collaborative.
- Ability to simplify technical requirements and communicate in a way that resonates with hourly teams.
- Comfort using digital tools, dashboards, and EHS platforms to drive insights and decisions.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Environmental Health And Safety Manager
Align your credentials to TN categories
EHS Manager roles can qualify under multiple TN categories depending on your duties. Review whether your background maps to Scientific Technician or Management Consultant before applying, since misclassification at the port of entry leads to denial.
Target employers with existing EHS infrastructure
Manufacturers, chemical producers, and construction firms with OSHA compliance teams already understand TN sponsorship paperwork. These employers are less likely to withdraw an offer when they see the filing requirements for the first time.
Translate provincial certifications into U.S. equivalents
Canadian CRSP designations and Mexican IMSS compliance credentials don't appear on U.S. job postings. Explicitly map them to OSHA 30, CSP, or relevant ANSI standards in your application materials so hiring managers recognize the equivalency.
Search for TN-sponsoring EHS roles on Migrate Mate
Filtering by TN visa sponsorship availability saves you from pursuing employers who won't file. Migrate Mate surfaces EHS Manager roles from employers already open to TN sponsorship, cutting out the cold-outreach guesswork entirely.
Prepare a CBP-ready support letter before the offer stage
Canadian citizens can seek TN approval directly at the port of entry, so your employer's support letter needs to specify your EHS duties, qualifying category, and degree field before you travel. A vague letter is one of the most common CBP denial triggers.
Confirm your Mexican consulate appointment timeline early
Mexican professionals must schedule a consular interview, and wait times at U.S. consulates in Mexico vary significantly by city and season. Build at least six to ten weeks into your start-date negotiation to account for appointment availability.

Find Environmental Health And Safety Manager JobsEnvironmental Health And Safety Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Environmental Health And Safety Manager role actually qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on how your duties are framed and which TN category your employer uses. EHS Managers whose work is rooted in applied science or engineering may qualify under Scientific Technician or Engineer categories. Those with a business or management focus may fit Management Consultant. Your degree field and day-to-day responsibilities both factor into CBP's decision at the port of entry or consulate.
How does the TN visa compare to the H-1B for EHS Manager positions?
The TN visa has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and can be approved the same day at a port of entry. H-1B requires employer sponsorship through a lottery with roughly one-in-four selection odds and a months-long wait. For Canadian and Mexican EHS professionals with a qualifying degree, TN is faster and more predictable, though it requires maintaining nonimmigrant intent unlike H-1B.
Where can I find EHS Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers and filters roles by sponsorship availability, so you're not cold-applying to employers who won't support the filing. Most general job boards don't surface visa sponsorship details at all, which means EHS professionals waste time on roles that require green card or citizenship status.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application as an EHS Manager?
Your employer must provide a signed support letter that specifies your job title, the TN professional category you're entering under, your EHS duties, your salary, and the employment period. For Canadians at the port of entry, this letter, your degree transcripts, and your passport are typically all CBP requires. Mexican nationals also need a valid DS-160 and consular interview appointment.
Can I switch EHS Manager employers while on a TN visa?
Yes, but you can't start working for the new employer under your current TN status. Canadians can apply for a new TN at a port of entry before starting the new role. Mexican nationals need a new consular appointment. There's no formal transfer process through USCIS the way there is with H-1B portability, so timing your transition carefully matters.
