Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Verify your CRNA credentials meet TN standards
TN classification for CRNAs requires a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree as a minimum, but most U.S. hospitals now require a master's or doctoral degree. Confirm your credential level aligns with the specific job offer before applying.
Target hospital systems with existing TN infrastructure
Large academic medical centers and regional hospital networks that already employ TN professionals have HR teams familiar with the process. Ask recruiters directly whether they've sponsored TN visas before accepting any interview.
Get your NCLEX and state licensure in order early
U.S. state boards require NCLEX passage and an active nursing license before you can practice as a CRNA. Start the licensure application for your target state as soon as you have a job offer, since processing can take weeks.
Use Migrate Mate to find CRNA roles with TN sponsorship
Searching broadly wastes time on employers unfamiliar with TN requirements for advanced practice nurses. Migrate Mate filters CRNA openings by sponsorship history, so you focus on employers already prepared to support the filing.
Prepare a detailed support letter for your TN application
Your employer's support letter must specify your CRNA duties, your qualifying degree, and the professional classification. A vague letter is a leading cause of TN denials at the port of entry or consulate for this role.
Understand Mexican nationals face a separate consular process
Unlike Canadians who can apply at any land border or preclearance airport, Mexican CRNA professionals must schedule a consular interview and apply under the USMCA's annual TN allocation for Mexico, which requires more lead time.

Does a CRNA role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes. Nurse anesthetist is a recognized profession on the USMCA TN list under the nursing category. You must hold a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree at minimum, though most hiring hospitals require a Master of Science in Nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice for CRNA positions. Your job offer must describe duties specific to nurse anesthesia, not general nursing.
How does TN visa sponsorship for CRNAs compare to H-1B?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and no lengthy USCIS petition queue. Canadians can receive TN approval at the port of entry on the same day they apply. H-1B requires entering the lottery in March for an October start date, making TN substantially faster and more predictable for eligible CRNA candidates.
Can I search for CRNA jobs that already support TN sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter CRNA openings specifically by TN visa sponsorship so you're not cold-applying to employers who have no experience with USMCA professional classifications. This matters because advanced practice nursing roles involve additional credentialing steps that unprepared employers often find unfamiliar.
What documents do I need to apply for TN status as a CRNA?
You'll need a signed employer support letter detailing your CRNA duties and qualifying degree, your diploma or transcripts, proof of your nursing license and CRNA certification, and your passport. Canadian applicants present these at the port of entry. Mexican nationals submit them as part of a DS-160 consular application package.
Can I switch CRNA employers while on TN status?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to the specific employer named in your original application. Before starting with a new employer, you need a new TN approval, either at a port of entry if you're Canadian or through a new consular application if you're Mexican. Working for a new employer without updated TN documentation violates your status.
