Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Scientist will play a key role in designing and executing experiments to drive innovative research projects within the Discovery Lab. This position involves conducting independent research, contributing to collaborative team efforts, and helping to develop new technologies and protocols. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in cancer biology, molecular biology, and genetics to help advance the lab's scientific goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Plan, design, and execute experiments across multiple research projects, contributing both independently and collaboratively within the lab. Develop and optimize new experimental protocols and technologies, ensuring integration into ongoing research. Address and troubleshoot technical or procedural challenges. Establish and maintain laboratory standards, including documentation of experiments and results. Assist in the preparation of regulatory documents, such as institutional biosafety and IACUC protocols, to ensure compliance. Establish and maintain murine model systems in collaboration with the comparative medicine shared resource.

Perform regular maintenance of laboratory notebooks, ensuring meticulous documentation of experimental procedures, data analysis, and results for multiple projects, maintaining comprehensive and organized lab notebooks to support data integrity, reproducibility, and reporting requirements.

Provide guidance to research technicians on data interpretation and experimental procedures.

Prepare reports, contribute to the writing of scientific publications, and drive the preparation of research manuscripts. Contribute to grant applications by providing scientific insights, data analysis, and support in proposal writing.

Work collaboratively with team members on daily lab upkeep, including cleaning, equipment maintenance, and monitoring the inventory of supplies to ensure a well-stocked, organized, and functional workspace.

Education
Bachelors in a relevant scientific field, in addition to relevant hands-on bench experience Preferred
Doctorate in Biomedical Science, Cancer Biology, Developmental Biology, Immunology, or a related field Preferred
