What we need:
Mohawk is looking for a Lift Truck Operator who will operate gasoline powered industrial trucks or tractors equipped with forklift and/or elevated platform to move materials. Duties are performed under general supervision following standard work and safety procedures and guidelines. This operator will support the Sanding department.
What you’ll do:
- Operates drive gasoline-, LP-, or electric powered trucks to transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
- Operates lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
- Move pallets, skids, and boxes and secures material or products for transport to designated areas.
- Dumps, sprays, or releases materials into hoppers or empty hoppers.
- Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as:
- Cleaning
- Lubricating
- Recharging Batteries
- Fueling diesel powered lifts with fuel and refill small lift with propane
- Ensuring the cabs of the lifts are clean, neat, and tidy
- Perform daily forklift inspections. Document and report any damage or malfunctions to the lift prior to operating.
- Maintain safe driving speeds throughout the plant and adhere to safety policies.
- Records quality and output measures and completes any other required paperwork.
- Assist other work centers with cleaning or packaging as directed by team leader or supervisor.
- Load bunk injector with bunks (runners).
- Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
- Follow all established standard operating procedures.
- Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
What you have:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
- Reads and writes in standard English and proficient in performing basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction.
- Successful completion of all required on the job training.
- Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
- Prior experience in manufacturing or MDF plant preferred, but not required.
What you’re good at:
- Must be an effective team member.
- Ability to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and steel toe shoes.
- Must be able to sit and drive a forklift.
- Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with others in the immediate work unit and in related supported areas.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
