Overview

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Onsite)

Location: Methodist Medical Plaza South

Department: Primary Care

Role Summary

Facilitates patient flow from entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. Ensures accurate collection of demographic and financial information to support reimbursement and clinical outcomes. Provides front-line support through scheduling, registration, and patient communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage incoming calls and direct patients/visitors appropriately
• Perform patient check-in and check-out processes
• Verify and update insurance information
• Monitor and resolve insurance-related errors
• Manage Cerner pool messages
• Schedule patient appointments
• Collect payments and explain charges/policies
• Enter charges accurately into appropriate systems

Training & Benchmarks

• First 3 Months:
• Comfortable with patient check-in/out
• Begin answering phones
• 6 Months:
• Increased role proficiency
• Improved understanding of workflows and responsibilities
• 12 Months:
• Fully functional and independent in role
• Onboarding:
• 6 weeks total (mentor support + web-based training)

Team Environment

Works primarily within Primary Care teams. Collaborative, patient-focused setting.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred:

• Experience in a healthcare setting
• Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical practices
• Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding
• Ability to interpret insurance information
