Overview
Small businesses fuel the global economy. In the US alone, they employ 60% of the workforce and create 80% of new jobs. Yet the odds are stacked against them: one in two fails within five years, and most of those failures come down to cash flow — balancing inflows and outflows, chasing late customer payments, funding growth, and making payroll, all while hoping there's enough left over for profit or a rainy day.
At QuickBooks, we aren't just building software. We're trying to increase the survival rate of entrepreneurship globally, and we're building the operating system that lets businesses get paid faster, access capital, and manage their own financial destiny.
QuickBooks Capital is looking for a Staff Product Designer to work across our lending products — term loans, lines of credit, marketplace, revenue-based financing, and the new products we're building — and the access points that surface them across QuickBooks. The ambition is bigger than a loan application. It's a business asking "can I cover this bill?" and QuickBooks answering: pay it now with your line of credit, repay it from next week's invoice, and come out ahead on late fees. Credit as a decision the product helps make, not a product the customer has to go find.
This is a data and experiment driven team. Most of what we ship is tested, and the work moves quickly. We want a designer who is comfortable reading experiment results and funnel data, who can make a call before the numbers are conclusive, and who pushes for research when the data can't answer the question.
At Intuit, we're intentionally building AI into how we define, build, and ship products — and we're committed to equipping our teams to work at the forefront of it. This role works both sides of that. You'll use AI in your own practice to prototype faster and go deeper on customer insight. You'll also design AI-native lending experiences, including agent-driven surfaces and recommendations inside Intuit Assist, where the customer needs to understand why they're being shown an offer before they'll act on it.
Responsibilities
Design the work
- Own the design of features and flows within a lending product area, from problem framing through launch and iteration.
- Define how credit appears inside existing workflows — invoices, payroll, banking, cash flow — so offers arrive at the moment of need rather than in a tab nobody visits.
- Hold the bar on craft: clarity, simplicity, and language a customer actually understands.
Design with data
- Partner with product and data science to shape experiments, not just design the variants — bring a hypothesis and a view on what a given result would mean.
- Read activation, application, approval, and drop-off data fluently, and use it to decide what to build next.
- Know what a test can prove and what it can't, and when qualitative research is the faster path to an answer.
Work across the system
- Partner across product teams so lending products complement each other rather than compete for the same moment of customer attention.
- Contribute to the patterns and design system for lending so the team can ship consistently at speed.
Influence and craft
- Articulate design rationale to product and engineering partners, and bring a clear recommendation rather than a menu of options.
- Raise the quality bar through critique and shared standards.
- Use AI in your own workflow to prototype, explore, and pressure-test ideas — and bring a point of view on where AI genuinely helps the customer versus where it introduces risk in a regulated lending context.
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of product design experience, preferably on large-scale consumer or small business products. Experience with lending, payments, or other financial services is a plus.
- Track record of shipping features and flows end to end, from problem framing through launch and iteration.
- Strong interaction and visual design craft, and fluency with design systems.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions, identify opportunities, and measure outcomes.
- Experience designing for experimentation — shaping tests, interpreting results, and iterating on what you learn.
- Ability to convey ideas through storyboarding, wireframing, and prototyping, and to bring stakeholders along with a clear narrative.
- A portfolio demonstrating user-centered design principles and craft.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Design, Product Management, and Engineering partners.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into your design workflow to improve quality, speed, or depth.

How do I get a ux designer job in Mountain View?
Focus your search on Mountain View's dense concentration of consumer tech and enterprise software companies clustered around North Bayshore and the downtown Castro Street area. Roles here tend to favor designers with platform-scale experience, strong systems thinking, and familiarity with zero-to-one product development. Building a portfolio that shows cross-functional collaboration and end-to-end design decisions gives candidates a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire ux designers in Mountain View?
Employers hiring ux designers in Mountain View right now include Intuit, Google, and EarnIn, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Mountain View's employer mix skews heavily toward large platform technology companies and growth-stage startups operating from campus-style headquarters in the North Bayshore and Moffett Field corridors.
Are there remote ux designer jobs in Mountain View?
Yes, though many Mountain View roles expect in-person collaboration given the design-heavy, product-embedded culture of local tech employers. About 100% of ux designer openings tied to Mountain View are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with remote options most common for contract engagements and content design roles rather than core product design positions.
How can I get a ux designer job in Mountain View with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Mountain View is through a junior or associate product designer role at a mid-size tech company or startup near the North Bayshore corridor, where smaller teams often offer broader early exposure than larger campus employers. UX research assistant and design operations coordinator positions also provide a foot in the door locally. A portfolio showing real problem-solving process, even from academic or freelance projects, matters more than years of experience here.
