Who We Are
Serval is an AI-native automation platform transforming how enterprises operate. We build intelligent agents that understand real-world workflows and execute them end-to-end — replacing manual processes and rigid legacy systems with adaptive, learning software. Founded in early 2024, Serval is already trusted by companies like Fox, Notion, Perplexity, Vercel, and Brex to automate high-volume, high-friction operational work across their organizations.
At the core of Serval is an agentic AI platform that turns natural language into production-grade workflows. Our agents don’t just respond to requests — they reason, take action across systems, and continuously improve with usage. What began with operational use cases has quickly evolved into a horizontal AI automation layer used across IT, HR, Finance, Security, Legal, and Engineering.
Our mission is to eliminate repetitive, manual work across the enterprise and give teams leverage through intelligent automation. Long term, we’re building the universal AI operations layer — a system of agents that sits across business functions and runs the workflows that keep modern companies moving.
We’re backed by leading investors including Sequoia Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Meritech, First Round, General Catalyst, Elad Gil, and others, and founded by product and engineering leaders from Verkada.
Role Overview
As a Senior Designer, you'll guide the visual voice of Serval, defining how an AI-native automation platform shows up in the world. You'll concept and execute creative work across every touchpoint: campaigns, web, product marketing, social, motion, print, merch, and events. You'll evolve our brand system and translate the technical depth of what we build into design that's distinctive, considered, and impossible to ignore.
You'll jump fluidly between mediums, owning projects end-to-end from concept to launch with high creative autonomy. You'll partner closely with marketing, product, engineering, and leadership to define how Serval shows up, and you'll set the bar for craft across the team.
This is a hands-on senior IC role on a small, ambitious team — high ownership, high judgment, and the opportunity to shape the brand of a category-defining company from the ground up.
- Concept and execute creative campaigns end-to-end across digital, web, social, print, merch, and live events.
- Shape and evolve Serval's brand system — typography, color, illustration, layout, and the visual rules that make our work feel cohesive and unmistakably ours across every surface.
- Own art direction for omni-channel work: launches, paid campaigns, conference presence, customer stories, and the full suite of marketing collateral (web pages, social assets, ads, decks, one-pagers, swag).
- Partner with product designers, marketing, engineers, and leadership to translate complex AI workflows into design that's clear, expressive, and memorable.
- Collaborate with motion designers, copywriters, and external partners to bring big ideas to life — from storyboard to final delivery.
- Set the creative bar through feedback, mentorship, and craft, elevating the work of everyone you collaborate with.
- Experiment relentlessly with AI tools to expand what's possible in visual design — and to push how fast and how far a small team can go.
- 6+ years in hands-on visual, graphic, or brand roles, with a portfolio that shows strong concept thinking, exceptional craft, and the ability to tell a story through design across multiple mediums.
- A track record of owning campaigns and brand systems from concept through execution — including 360 work spanning digital, social, video, and physical/event experiences.
- Expert proficiency in Figma, Illustrator, and Adobe Creative Suite, with comfort working fluidly across static, web, and print.
- Strong sensibility for typography, layout, hierarchy, and visual systems — and the judgment to know when a bold choice is the right one and when restraint is.
- Comfort driving projects end-to-end, giving and receiving direct feedback, and delivering high-quality work under tight timelines in a fast-moving environment.
- Active experimentation with AI tools.
Nice to Have
- Experience building or evolving a brand system at an early-stage company, or rebranding work at a more established one.
- On-set art direction experience for video, photography, or events.
- Experience mentoring other designers or guiding external contractors.
What We Offer
- Impact: Be a key player in shaping the success of our product and company.
- Growth: Build a fundamentally new AI product offering with the support of our experienced team and investors. Grow rapidly with the company.
- Culture: Join a culture that values innovation, ownership, accountability, and fun.
Compensation Range: $150K - $200K

Senior Designer Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior designer in California?
The path to a senior designer role in California depends on the discipline. Architects must hold a California Architect license issued through the California Architects Board, which requires an accredited professional degree, documented experience, and passing the Architect Registration Examination. Interior designers can pursue the California-recognized NCIDQ credential for competitive advantage. For product, UX, and graphic designers, no state license applies, but California employers consistently look for a strong portfolio, a relevant bachelor's degree, and several years of progressive experience.
Which companies hire senior designers in California?
Employers hiring senior designers in California right now include Adobe, Affiliated Engineers, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, major entertainment studios, and global consumer brands means senior design roles appear across a broader range of industries here than in most other states.
Which California cities have the most senior designer jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most senior designer openings in California. Los Angeles leads because of its entertainment, advertising, and real estate industries, while San Francisco and the broader Bay Area draw UX and product designers to technology company headquarters, and San Diego's biotech and defense sectors create demand for specialized technical and brand designers.
Are there remote senior designer jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 30% of senior designer openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves digital deliverables and collaborative software. UX, product, and brand design roles are the most likely to be fully remote, while architectural, interior, and industrial design positions typically require on-site presence for client reviews and fabrication oversight.
How can I get hired as a senior designer in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a focused portfolio through associate or junior designer roles, then moving up internally. Large California technology companies like Google and Salesforce run structured design programs for early-career candidates, and entertainment studios in Los Angeles regularly hire design coordinators and production designers who develop into senior roles. Architecture firms across California hire through the Architectural Experience Program, and community colleges and California College of the Arts offer portfolio-building coursework that California employers recognize.
Where can I find and apply to senior designer jobs in California?
You can find and apply to senior designer jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across design disciplines and experience levels. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly to each one.
