Position Summary
Join the Associate AI Experiences team to apply advanced data science, machine learning, and agentic AI to solve high‑impact business problems across Walmart’s global operations. You will build production ML systems, deploy autonomous AI agents, and translate complex data into actionable insights that drive measurable business value at massive scale.
You will be a great fit if you:
- Architect end‑to‑end ML systems—from feature engineering through production deployment and monitoring
- Have built and shipped multiple autonomous AI agents (not just experimented with LLM APIs)
- Are Level 5+ on Steve Yegge’s Vibe Coding scale and can ship production systems using AI‑assisted development
- Combine deep statistical rigor with practical, real‑world business impact
About the Team
Our team builds intelligent agents and ML‑powered solutions that make associates’ jobs easier, faster, and more fulfilling across stores, fulfillment centers, distribution centers, and the home office. We leverage the Element LLM Gateway to safely access state‑of‑the‑art language models while keeping all data within Walmart’s network. Our work spans NLP, computer vision, time‑series forecasting, and multi‑agent AI systems at enterprise scale.
What You’ll Do
- Build and deploy production ML systems end‑to‑end, including data pipelines, feature stores, model training, serving layers, monitoring, and feedback loops at scale
- Architect and deploy autonomous AI agents, including conversational assistants, predictive agents with tool calling, and multi‑agent orchestration systems using LangChain, Pydantic AI, and RAG patterns
- Design agentic evaluation frameworks to benchmark agent performance across task completion, code quality, and multi‑step reasoning accuracy
- Deploy NLP pipelines at enterprise scale, enabling semantic similarity across millions of records using BERT/SBERT embeddings and vector search (FAISS)
- Engineer computer vision systems for real‑time inference (YOLO, RT‑DETR, CLIP) with multi‑GPU training optimization
- Build time‑series forecasting models that drive inventory optimization, demand planning, and financial projections across multiple geographies
- Present insights to senior leadership using compelling data visualizations, quantified business impact, and clearly defined confidence intervals
- Mentor team members on advanced modeling techniques, feature engineering, and experimental design
- Travel internationally to support Walmart operations in Canada, Chile, Mexico, South Africa, Europe, and the UK
What You’ll Bring
- Deep expertise in ML algorithms (XGBoost, CatBoost, LightGBM, Random Forest, AutoML) and deep learning (PyTorch, transformer architectures)
- Production experience with NLP (BERT, SBERT, FAISS, RAG), computer vision (YOLO, CLIP), and time‑series forecasting (ARIMA, Prophet)
- Hands‑on experience building and orchestrating multiple AI agents with LangChain, RAG, tool integration, and memory management
- Multi‑cloud ML platform proficiency across AWS SageMaker and GCP (Vertex AI, BigQuery, BigQuery ML)
- Strong Python skills (Pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn), containerization expertise (Docker), and MLOps best practices
- Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis, experimental design, and causal inference
- Proven ability to translate complex analytical results into clear, actionable business recommendations for non‑technical stakeholders

Which companies sponsor visas for ML software engineers in Arkansas?
Walmart Global Tech in Bentonville is the most prominent Arkansas-based employer sponsoring H-1B visas for ML software engineers, given the scale of its data and personalization engineering teams. Windstream and Dillard's Technology also have engineering divisions in the state. Beyond these, national tech contractors and healthcare IT firms operating out of Little Rock occasionally sponsor ML engineering roles.
Which visa types are most common for ML software engineer roles in Arkansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for ML software engineers in Arkansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field. Candidates already holding O-1A status or on F-1 OPT with a STEM extension are also actively recruited by larger employers like Walmart Global Tech who are experienced with those work authorization categories.
Which cities in Arkansas have the most ML software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Bentonville and the broader Northwest Arkansas corridor account for the largest share of ML engineering sponsorship activity in the state, driven by Walmart Global Tech's headquarters and its surrounding supplier and logistics tech ecosystem. Little Rock has a smaller but active market through healthcare IT, state government contractors, and financial services firms. Fayetteville benefits from proximity to the University of Arkansas and its computer science and data science programs.
How to find ml software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Arkansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, which saves time compared to manually screening postings for international candidates. For ML software engineer roles in Arkansas, searching Migrate Mate lets you focus on employers who have a documented history of H-1B or other work visa filings in the state, including large-scale sponsors like Walmart Global Tech. Setting up alerts for Northwest Arkansas and Little Rock is a practical starting point.
Are there any state-specific considerations for ML software engineers seeking sponsorship in Arkansas?
Arkansas has a relatively concentrated ML hiring market, with Northwest Arkansas functioning as the primary tech hub. The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville has a pipeline of graduate-level talent in computer science and data science, which means employers there are accustomed to working with F-1 OPT and STEM OPT candidates. Outside the Bentonville-Fayetteville corridor, ML engineering roles are less common, so candidates should expect the sponsoring employer pool to be smaller than in coastal tech markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ml software engineer jobs in Arkansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
