Are you a kid at heart looking to build a career with a leading global children's toy, entertainment and digital gaming company?
At Spin Master, our unwavering commitment to open mindedness, integrity and innovation is a great part of what has made us an industry leader. How do we stay ahead of the pack? By hiring the best and brightest minds—and that’s why we want you!
Job Description
Hapiko and the Stickerbox Story
Hapiko, a new part of the Spin Master family, is the creator of Stickerbox, an AI sticker printer for kids. A child holds a button, says "a unicorn riding a slice of pizza through space," and seconds later, a physical sticker prints out. This is powered by a proprietary generation pipeline that turns a child's idea into safe, fun, printed art in just a few seconds.
What will you work on?
You aren’t just one of a dozen ML engineers lost in a Big Tech department. You will own the architecture and performance of the machine learning pipeline that powers Stickerbox, scaling this technology to support a global product launch. This role is designed for a builder who wants to learn exactly how to launch and scale a physical AI product for kids from the ground up. You will make the foundational architectural decisions and translate product requirements into reality.
This is a hybrid role, 3 days per week out of our Long Island City office.
How will you create impact?
- Own end-to-end latency from a kid's voiced input to a physical printed sticker, and the profiling to eliminate every bottleneck
- Design and manage model deployment, versioning, and rollback strategies for a fleet of consumer hardware devices
- Optimize batching, caching, and GPU utilization across image generation, speech recognition, and character models to keep the experience fast and affordable
- Conduct build-vs-buy analysis for hosting and inference architecture and lead any resulting migrations
- Design and maintain serving-side enforcement of product safety, kid-safe compliance, and automated character-fidelity checks
- Manage the queues, autoscaling, observability, and release engineering that supports the ML generation path
What are your skills and experience?
- Experience deploying and operating diffusion or similar generative ML models in production with real latency constraints
- Experience profiling a generation path to optimize for performance and cost
- End-to-end production ownership experience, including deployment, capacity planning, observability, and on-call support
- Advanced knowledge of ML infrastructure, inference systems, and production software architecture
- Experience translating product requirements into scalable technical solutions and roadmaps
- Experience with consumer hardware, on-device/edge inference, ASR, or child-directed digital products is a strong plus

Which companies sponsor visas for ML software engineers in New York?
Large tech and finance companies are the most consistent sponsors for ML software engineers in New York. Companies like Google, Amazon, Meta, IBM, Bloomberg, and Two Sigma have established sponsorship programs and regularly file H-1B visa petitions for ML roles. Mid-size startups in adtech, fintech, and healthtech also sponsor, though their processes tend to be less standardized than those of larger employers.
Which visa types are most common for ML software engineer roles in New York?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa for ML software engineers in New York, given that the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a closely related field, which satisfies the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with advanced degrees from U.S. universities may enter the cap through the master's cap exemption. The O-1A is an alternative for candidates with demonstrated exceptional ability, such as published research or notable open-source contributions.
How to find ml software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse ML software engineer roles in New York without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. The platform is built for this use case, making it faster to identify employers actively hiring and willing to file petitions for roles requiring machine learning expertise in the New York market.
Which cities in New York have the most ML software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the large majority of ML software engineer sponsorship opportunities in New York, particularly in Midtown and the Flatiron District where tech and finance firms cluster. Brooklyn, especially the DUMBO and Industry City areas, has a growing concentration of ML-focused startups. Albany and Buffalo have smaller tech presences, but sponsorship activity for ML roles is heavily concentrated in the New York City metro area.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for ML software engineers pursuing visa sponsorship?
New York's concentration of financial services firms means many ML engineer roles involve working on proprietary trading systems, risk models, or fraud detection, which can add background check or security clearance requirements that affect sponsorship timelines. Columbia University, NYU, and Cornell Tech also feed a strong pipeline of international ML graduates into the city's hiring market, making New York one of the more competitive states for these roles among international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ml software engineer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
