Which companies sponsor visas for ML software engineers in Delaware?
Financial services firms are the dominant sponsors in Delaware. JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Capital One, and DuPont have all filed H-1B petitions for ML-related engineering roles in the state. Smaller fintech companies operating out of Wilmington also sponsor, though less frequently. Checking DOL LCA disclosure data for Delaware employers gives you a verified picture of active sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for ML software engineer roles in Delaware?
The H-1B is the most common visa for ML software engineers in Delaware. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, machine learning, statistics, or a closely related field. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT can often begin work before an H-1B petition is approved. L-1B visas appear occasionally for intracompany transfers at large financial firms with global operations.
Which cities in Delaware have the most ML software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the large majority of ML software engineer sponsorship activity in Delaware, driven by its concentration of financial services and corporate headquarters. Newark is a secondary hub, influenced by proximity to the University of Delaware and a small cluster of technology firms. Dover and other parts of the state see very limited ML engineering hiring compared to these two cities.
How to find ml software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, so you can browse ML software engineer openings in Delaware without sifting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. Searching by state and role on Migrate Mate surfaces positions at Delaware's financial institutions and tech employers that have an active sponsorship history. This saves significant time compared to reviewing unfiltered postings.
Are there state-specific considerations for ML software engineers pursuing sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware's ML engineering market is heavily shaped by its financial services sector, so many roles involve compliance-sensitive data work, which can add background check requirements beyond standard immigration processing. The University of Delaware's computer science and data science programs create a local graduate pipeline that employers draw from, meaning international candidates compete alongside a strong pool of OPT-eligible graduates already in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ml software engineer jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
