Which food and beverage companies sponsor H-2A visas in California?
California's largest H-2A visa food and beverage sponsors include fruit and vegetable growers in the Central Valley, wine grape producers in Napa, Sonoma, and the San Joaquin Valley, and large citrus and nut processors such as Wonderful Company and Sunview Growers. Staffing associations like Western Range Association also file H-2A petitions on behalf of multiple grower members, consolidating sponsorship for smaller operations that lack in-house immigration resources.
Which cities in California have the most food and beverage H-2A sponsorship jobs?
Fresno, Bakersfield, Salinas, Visalia, and Stockton consistently post the highest concentrations of food and beverage H-2A openings in California. The Central Valley corridor from Kern to San Joaquin County drives most petition volume, covering stone fruit, citrus, grapes, and processing plant roles. Salinas and the Monterey Bay area add significant demand for lettuce, strawberry, and vegetable harvest positions throughout spring and summer.
How do I find food and beverage H-2A sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate lists verified food and beverage H-2A sponsorship jobs in California, filtered by employer petition history so you can focus on growers and processors with confirmed filing records. Search by county or crop type to match openings in the Central Valley, Salinas Valley, or North Coast wine regions. Reviewing DOL labor condition application data through OFLC records can also confirm which California employers have recently certified H-2A positions in food and beverage roles.
What types of food and beverage roles typically qualify for H-2A sponsorship in California?
H-2A sponsorship in California's food and beverage sector most commonly covers crop harvest workers, vineyard pruners and grape pickers, irrigation and planting laborers, packinghouse sorters, and cannery or processing line workers tied to seasonal agricultural production. Roles must be temporary or seasonal in nature, generally lasting less than ten months, and must be connected to agricultural production as defined under the Immigration and Nationality Act and USCIS guidance.
Are there California-specific considerations for H-2A food and beverage workers?
California's agricultural labor laws layer additional protections on top of federal H-2A requirements, including state minimum wage standards, mandatory rest breaks, and heat illness prevention regulations enforced by Cal/OSHA. Employers must also comply with California's housing and transportation standards for H-2A workers, which can exceed federal minimums. Workers placed through an agricultural association rather than a direct employer petition should confirm which entity is the named sponsor on the certified labor condition application.
