Which companies sponsor visas for staff devops engineers in California?
Large technology employers with established immigration programs are the most consistent sponsors for staff DevOps engineers in California. Companies like Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, Uber, Lyft, and Netflix have filed significant numbers of H-1B petitions for senior DevOps and infrastructure roles. Mid-size cloud and SaaS companies in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also sponsor regularly, particularly those with enterprise infrastructure teams.
Which visa types are most common for staff devops engineer roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for staff DevOps engineers in California, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1 visa intracompany transferee status or O-1 visa extraordinary ability visas also appear in this role at senior levels, particularly at multinational firms headquartered in California.
Which cities in California have the most staff devops engineer sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and San Francisco itself, accounts for the largest share of staff DevOps engineer sponsorship jobs in California. Los Angeles has a growing presence, driven by entertainment technology, fintech, and startup ecosystems. San Diego has a smaller but active cluster tied to defense technology and biotech infrastructure roles.
How to find staff devops engineer visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters staff DevOps engineer roles in California by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sifting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. The platform surfaces roles from companies with documented H-1B filing histories, which is especially useful at the staff level where sponsorship willingness and company immigration infrastructure both matter significantly.
Are there state-specific considerations for staff devops engineers seeking sponsorship in California?
California's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles are among the highest in the country, reflecting the cost of living in major metro areas. Employers must certify a wage that meets the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for the specific role and location, meaning staff-level DevOps positions in the Bay Area carry substantial wage floor obligations. This also means employers sponsoring at this level are typically well-resourced organizations with formal immigration programs in place.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored staff devops engineer jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
