Which companies sponsor visas for UI UX designers in California?
Large technology companies are the most consistent sponsors for UI UX designer roles in California. Apple, Google, Meta, Adobe, Salesforce, and Intuit have established sponsorship processes and frequently file H-1B visa petitions for design roles. Mid-size product companies and enterprise software firms in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also sponsor regularly, particularly when hiring for senior or specialized experience design positions.
Which visa types are most common for UI UX designer roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for UI UX designers in California. USCIS classifies UI/UX design as a specialty occupation when the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as human-computer interaction, graphic design, or computer science. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa as an alternative. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT are also commonly hired by California employers before transitioning to H-1B.
Which cities in California have the most UI UX designer sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the broader Bay Area account for the largest share of UI UX designer sponsorship jobs in California, driven by the concentration of technology companies headquartered there. Los Angeles has a growing product design market, particularly in entertainment technology, media, and e-commerce. San Jose, San Diego, and Oakland also have active hiring activity, with San Diego showing strength in biotech and healthcare UX roles.
How to find ui ux designer visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to search for UI UX designer roles in California without sifting through employers who don't sponsor. You can filter by location and role type to focus on California-based opportunities. This is particularly useful for international candidates on OPT or those planning an H-1B petition, since the listings are curated for sponsorship eligibility.
Are there any California-specific considerations for UI UX designers seeking visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles are among the highest in the country, reflecting the state's high cost of living, particularly in the Bay Area. Employers must pay at least the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the specific location of employment, which in cities like San Francisco and San Jose sits at a higher level than national averages. University programs at UC Berkeley, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley, and UCLA also create strong local pipelines that international graduates can leverage when approaching California employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ui ux designer jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
