DESCRIPTION
The Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) team is looking for an experienced UX Designer to design net-new concepts and products to improve how GREF teams drive strategic portfolio decisions and manage our global real estate footprint.
GREF creates the spaces that inspire Amazonians to make history. Our globally diverse team manages Amazon's corporate office portfolio across more than 60 countries, delivering real estate transactions, space and occupancy planning, design and construction, capital investment program management, and facility operations — all in service of a workplace where culture thrives and employees do their best work.
Within GREF, the Product team develops technology solutions that improve how employees interact with GREF services and enable internal GREF teams to deliver on its mission. We are looking for an experienced UX Designer to own design strategy and execution across products that support both GREF internal operations and the broader employee experience.
In this role, you'll combine innovative design thinking with business acumen to create compelling products that revolutionize how GREF manages our global real estate portfolio. You will own the end-to-end design process for complex features and products, from early-stage concept development through delivery to engineering. You will partner closely with Product to translate ambiguous problems into clear, compelling experiences that help stakeholders and leaders deeply understand the customer journey. You will collaborate with engineers throughout the design process to bring those experiences to life with precision and care. You will also play an active role in the broader design community within GREF by adopting and extending existing design systems, contributing new patterns to design libraries, and sharing what you learn with your peers. This role requires a builder's mindset, strong customer obsession, the ability to design for multiple discrete customer types in parallel, and the confidence to operate with clarity and conviction in an ambiguous environment.
Key job responsibilities
- Design Strategy & Execution: Own design strategy and end-to-end execution for products that support GREF internal functions and employee interactions — from concept through delivery.

- Prototyping & Concepting: Develop high-fidelity prototypes and vision pieces that inspire teams and stakeholders; quickly and thoroughly create journey maps, flows, and mockups calibrated to the right level of detail for each audience.
- Design Systems: Routinely collaborate with designers across GREF to adopt and extend existing design systems; contribute new patterns and best practices to shared design libraries.
- Engineering Collaboration: Deliver pixel-perfect designs and detailed specifications to engineering teams; partner closely with engineers throughout implementation to ensure designs are realized with precision.
- Visual & Interaction Consistency: Ensure a consistent visual language and interaction patterns across all touchpoints within the product portfolio.
- Stakeholder Communication: Present design concepts, rationale, and progress to product partners and senior stakeholders; communicate design decisions with clarity and confidence.

Which companies sponsor visas for UI UX designers in Washington?
Microsoft and Amazon are the most consistent sponsors for UI UX designers in Washington, with large in-house design organizations covering product, accessibility, and enterprise software. Salesforce, T-Mobile, and Boeing also sponsor designers, as does Expedia Group, which maintains a significant design team in Seattle. Smaller tech firms and startups in the Seattle area sponsor less frequently but do file for qualified candidates.
Which visa types are most common for UI UX designer roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa for UI UX designers in Washington, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, or graphic design. Australian citizens may pursue the E-3 visa. Candidates with extraordinary recognition in the field may qualify for the O-1A. Employers file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor before sponsoring any of these categories.
Which cities in Washington have the most UI UX designer sponsorship jobs?
Seattle accounts for the overwhelming majority of UI UX designer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington, driven by the concentration of major tech employers in the city and surrounding Eastside communities including Redmond, Bellevue, and Kirkland. Redmond is particularly notable as Microsoft's headquarters. Outside the Seattle metro, sponsorship opportunities for designers drop off significantly, as the state's design hiring is heavily anchored to its tech corridor.
How to find ui ux designer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters UI UX designer roles in Washington specifically by visa sponsorship, so you're not sorting through listings that don't apply to international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from employers with documented sponsorship history in the design field. Given how concentrated Washington's design market is in Seattle and the Eastside, searching by city alongside role type on Migrate Mate helps narrow results to where hiring is actually active.
Are there state-specific considerations for UI UX designers seeking sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons but does not change federal sponsorship requirements. The University of Washington's Human Centered Design and Engineering program produces a notable pipeline of design talent, meaning employers in Seattle are accustomed to evaluating international graduates from that program. H-1B petitions for design roles must demonstrate the position requires a specific bachelor's degree, so a generalist portfolio alone is not sufficient without a qualifying educational background.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ui ux designer jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
