Which companies sponsor visas for UI/UX designers in New York?
Large tech and finance employers are the most active sponsors for UI/UX designers in New York. Companies like Google, IBM, Spotify, JPMorgan Chase, American Express, and Bloomberg have established sponsorship track records. Agencies and product studios operating in Manhattan and Brooklyn also sponsor, though less consistently than enterprise employers. Startups occasionally sponsor but typically require senior-level experience before committing to the cost and process.
Which visa types are most common for UI/UX designer roles in New York?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for UI/UX designers in New York, as the role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, or graphic design. Some employers also sponsor O-1A visas for designers with demonstrated recognition in the field. Australians may pursue the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B lottery.
How to find ui ux designer visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship willingness, making it more efficient than general job searches for UI/UX designer roles in New York. You can browse listings filtered to New York and narrow by experience level or product type. Because not all employers openly advertise sponsorship, Migrate Mate surfaces opportunities where sponsorship is a confirmed or indicated part of the offer, saving significant research time.
Which cities in New York have the most UI/UX designer sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the majority of UI/UX designer sponsorship jobs in New York, particularly in Midtown and lower Manhattan where finance, media, and enterprise tech companies are concentrated. Brooklyn, especially the DUMBO and Williamsburg areas, has a growing cluster of product-focused startups and agencies. Long Island City has attracted tech tenants in recent years. Outside New York City, sponsorship opportunities for designers are limited.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for UI/UX designer visa sponsorship?
New York employers sponsoring H-1B visas for UI/UX designers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which reflect the high cost of living in the metro area. Designers with specialized experience in fintech, healthtech, or enterprise software tend to attract more sponsorship interest given the industries dominant in New York. Some of the strongest hiring pipelines for international design talent run through programs at NYU, Pratt Institute, and the School of Visual Arts.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ui ux designer jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
