Which companies in Colorado sponsor visas for AI engineers?
Palantir Technologies, headquartered in Denver, is one of Colorado's most active H-1B visa sponsors for AI and data engineering roles. Google's Boulder office, Lockheed Martin's aerospace AI division, and Arrow Electronics also appear regularly in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for AI-related petitions. Several Denver-based healthtech and fintech startups have sponsored H-1B and O-1 visas for machine learning and AI infrastructure engineers as well.
Which visa types are most common for AI engineer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for AI engineers in Colorado, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related field. O-1A visas are an option for engineers with demonstrated exceptional ability, such as published research or patents. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may also qualify for TN visa status under the 'Computer Systems Analyst' or 'Engineer' categories.
Which cities in Colorado have the most AI engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Denver is the primary hub, with the highest concentration of tech employers and AI-focused companies filing LCA petitions in the state. Boulder follows closely, driven by university spinouts, research institutions, and companies like Google with a significant local presence. Colorado Springs has a smaller but growing cluster of AI roles tied to defense contractors and cybersecurity firms. Remote-first roles sponsored by Colorado-based companies are also increasingly common across the state.
How to find ai engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates, filtering AI engineer roles in Colorado by visa sponsorship availability. Because many Colorado employers list roles without explicitly mentioning sponsorship, using a platform like Migrate Mate that screens for sponsorship history saves significant time. Filtering by Denver and Boulder, where LCA filing activity is highest, tends to surface the strongest opportunities for AI engineers seeking H-1B or O-1 sponsorship.
Are there state-specific considerations for AI engineers pursuing sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers to disclose compensation ranges in job postings, which gives AI engineer candidates useful context when evaluating offers relative to the prevailing wage the employer must certify on the Labor Condition Application. CU Boulder and Colorado State University produce a consistent pipeline of AI and ML graduates, meaning Colorado employers are familiar with sponsoring OPT and H-1B transitions. The state's concentration of federal contractors also means some roles may require security clearances, which can complicate sponsorship for non-citizens.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
