Which companies sponsor visas for controls technicians in Colorado?
Employers with a documented history of sponsoring skilled technical roles in Colorado include Lockheed Martin in Littleton, Ball Corporation in Broomfield, Xcel Energy across the Front Range, and various industrial automation contractors serving the oil and gas sector in Weld County. Large defense and aerospace primes tend to have established HR infrastructure for sponsorship, making them more consistent sponsors than smaller contractors.
Which visa types are most common for controls technician roles in Colorado?
H-1B is the most common visa for controls technicians when the role requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field and the employer classifies it as a specialty occupation. For roles with more hands-on technical qualifications rather than a four-year degree, H-2B or TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals) may also appear in employer filings. The specific visa depends heavily on how the employer defines the position.
Which cities in Colorado have the most controls technician sponsorship jobs?
The Denver metro area, including Broomfield, Littleton, and Aurora, accounts for the largest share of controls technician sponsorship activity in Colorado due to concentrations of aerospace, defense, and energy employers. Fort Collins and Loveland in Northern Colorado see demand from manufacturing and clean energy companies. Colorado Springs has a secondary market driven by defense contractors and utilities operating near Peterson Space Force Base.
How to find controls technician visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search controls technician roles in Colorado without sifting through positions that won't sponsor. The platform surfaces employers actively filing for work visas in technical and industrial roles, which is particularly useful in Colorado where sponsorship activity is spread across aerospace, energy, and manufacturing sectors rather than concentrated in one industry.
Are there state-specific factors that affect controls technician visa sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are benchmarked to local DOL wage data, which reflects a competitive technical labor market, particularly in the Denver metro. Colorado's strong aerospace and defense ecosystem, anchored partly by the University of Colorado Boulder and Colorado State University engineering programs, means employers are accustomed to hiring internationally trained technicians. Roles tied to federal contracts may also carry additional security clearance requirements that can complicate sponsorship timelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored controls technician jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
