Which companies sponsor visas for mechanical engineers in Colorado?
Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Intelligence & Space have consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for mechanical engineers at their Littleton and Aurora facilities. Ball Aerospace in Boulder, Woodward in Fort Collins, and Trimble in Westminster have also filed LCAs for mechanical engineering roles. Energy sector employers including SolarWinds and several oil and gas firms in Denver round out the sponsoring employer base.
Which visa types are most common for mechanical engineer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for mechanical engineers in Colorado. It requires a bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a closely related field and employer sponsorship. Canadian and Mexican engineers may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA engineer category, which is processed at the border and does not require advance USCIS approval. Australian engineers may also consider the E-3 visa.
Which cities in Colorado have the most mechanical engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Denver metro area, including Littleton, Aurora, and Englewood, accounts for the largest share of mechanical engineering sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by aerospace and defense contractors. Boulder is a secondary hub with aerospace, energy technology, and research-focused employers. Fort Collins has a growing advanced manufacturing presence, and Colorado Springs attracts defense-related engineering roles tied to military installations.
How to find mechanical engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, letting you search mechanical engineer roles in Colorado without sorting through employers unlikely to sponsor. Because aerospace and defense dominate Colorado's engineering sector, filtering by industry can narrow results further. Migrate Mate aggregates sponsorship-open postings so you can focus applications on employers with a demonstrated history of filing H-1B or other work visas.
Are there state-specific considerations for mechanical engineers seeking visa sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's mechanical engineering market is heavily influenced by aerospace and defense, meaning many employers hold federal contracts. Some positions at contractors like Lockheed Martin or Raytheon require security clearances, which are generally not available to non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents. This limits sponsorship to unclassified roles at those firms. The University of Colorado Boulder and Colorado State University also feed engineering talent pipelines that some employers use for entry-level sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored mechanical engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
