Amazon Advertising organization is democratizing advanced advertising capabilities, giving millions of sellers and brands access to sophisticated optimization tools that were previously only available through agencies or expensive third-party providers. We are building the next generation of agentic AI systems that will transform how millions of advertisers interact with Amazon's advertising platform. By combining innovative large language models, autonomous agents, and Amazon's unmatched first-party data on shopper behavior and conversion patterns, we're creating intelligent systems that reason, plan, and act on behalf of advertisers - delivering insights and optimizations that vastly outperform manual campaign management.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will lead the technical vision and innovation in revolutionizing how advertisers succeed on Amazon. You will be part of a newly formed team building a horizontal agentic AI layer - the next generation of AI-powered marketing experts that transform how advertisers of all sizes create, manage, and optimize their campaigns.
Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, you are a recognized technical leader who drives the engineering strategy, mentors team members, and partners with cross-functional teams to deliver complex end-to-end AI solutions. Your work focuses on architecting and implementing robust systems in ambiguous problem areas where both the business problem and solution approach need to be defined. The problems you tackle require significant technical innovation at the product level - from guiding less experienced sellers through campaign setup to automatically surfacing optimization opportunities that unlock advertiser success.
You take ownership of the long-term technical vision, product roadmaps, and technologies, defining how they should evolve. You build consensus through thoughtful discussions with stakeholders, scientists, and engineering peers across multiple teams. You bring deep expertise to provide context for current and future technology choices, and make strategic recommendations on system architecture and implementation approaches to achieve transformative business outcomes - ultimately strengthening Amazon's advertising ecosystem and helping more advertisers thrive.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
- Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques

Which companies sponsor visas for software engineers in Colorado?
Several large employers in Colorado have consistent histories of sponsoring software engineers on work visas. Google's Boulder engineering office, Palantir's Denver headquarters, and Lockheed Martin's aerospace facilities along the Front Range are among the most active. Mid-sized tech companies and defense contractors in the Denver metro area also file sponsorship petitions regularly, particularly for backend, systems, and cloud engineering roles.
Which visa types are most common for software engineer roles in Colorado?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for software engineers in Colorado, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Australians may also qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadians and Mexicans can use the TN visa under the USMCA. Some employers in Colorado also support L-1 visa transfers for engineers moving from international offices.
Which cities in Colorado have the most software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of software engineer sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by its concentration of tech companies, fintech firms, and corporate headquarters. Boulder is a secondary hub with a strong startup and SaaS presence, partly fueled by proximity to the University of Colorado. Colorado Springs sees sponsorship activity concentrated in defense and government contracting sectors, particularly for systems and embedded software engineers.
How to find software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters software engineer roles specifically by visa sponsorship and U.S. state, making it straightforward to browse verified openings in Colorado without sifting through listings that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by role type and location to find positions in Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs. Focusing on employers with established H-1B or E-3 visa filing histories in Colorado improves your chances of a successful application.
Are there any state-specific considerations for software engineers seeking sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers to disclose salary ranges in job postings, which gives international candidates useful transparency when evaluating whether a role meets H-1B prevailing wage requirements before applying. The University of Colorado and Colorado State University also generate a steady pipeline of international software engineering graduates on OPT, meaning Colorado employers are generally familiar with sponsorship processes and F-1 to H-1B transitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
