Which companies sponsor visas for ml engineers in Delaware?
Financial institutions headquartered or operating in Wilmington, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Barclays, are among the more active H-1B sponsors for ml engineer roles in Delaware. DuPont and other life sciences and materials science firms along the Route 202 corridor also file LCA applications for machine learning talent. Sponsorship activity in Delaware tends to concentrate in financial technology and research-driven industries rather than pure software startups.
Which visa types are most common for ml engineer roles in Delaware?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for ml engineers in Delaware, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field. Candidates with an existing H-1B can transfer to a Delaware employer. Graduates on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension can also work for sponsoring employers while a petition is pending. O-1A is an option for candidates with documented exceptional ability.
How to find ml engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Delaware?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search ml engineer roles in Delaware without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. Because Delaware's ml engineering market skews toward financial services and life sciences rather than broad tech, filtering by industry on Migrate Mate helps narrow results to employers with an established track record of H-1B filings for machine learning roles in the state.
Which cities in Delaware have the most ml engineer sponsorship jobs?
Wilmington accounts for the large majority of ml engineer sponsorship activity in Delaware, driven by its concentration of financial services headquarters and regional bank technology divisions. Newark, home to the University of Delaware, sees some ml engineering hiring connected to research partnerships and university-affiliated employers. The rest of Delaware is largely rural, so candidates targeting sponsored ml roles should focus their search on the Wilmington and Newark areas.
Are there any state-specific considerations for ml engineers pursuing visa sponsorship in Delaware?
Delaware's ml engineering market is narrower than nearby states like New York or Virginia, so the candidate pool competing for sponsored roles is smaller. Employers must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor certifying the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the ml engineer role in the Wilmington metropolitan area. The University of Delaware's strong computer science and data science programs also create a local talent pipeline that some Delaware employers draw from when considering sponsored international hires.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ml engineer jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
