Which companies sponsor visas for estimators in Florida?
Large general contractors and construction management firms with active Florida operations, including Turner Construction, Skanska, Kiewit, and Hensel Phelps, have sponsored estimators in the past. Engineering consultancies and specialty subcontractors focused on Florida's commercial real estate, transportation, and utility sectors also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as repeat sponsors for estimation roles.
Which visa types are most common for estimator roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for estimators, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN status under the engineer category. Employers typically determine the appropriate visa category based on the specific role requirements and the candidate's qualifications.
Which cities in Florida have the most estimator sponsorship jobs?
Miami and the South Florida metro see the highest concentration of estimator sponsorship activity, driven by large-scale commercial, hospitality, and infrastructure projects. Orlando is active due to ongoing theme park and commercial development. Tampa and Jacksonville also have strong construction pipelines, particularly in healthcare facilities, port infrastructure, and residential expansion, making all four metros worth targeting.
How to find estimator visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search estimator roles in Florida without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. The platform surfaces openings from contractors and engineering firms across Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville. Filtering by role and state on Migrate Mate gives you a focused list of employers actively open to sponsorship for this position type.
Are there state-specific considerations for estimators seeking sponsorship in Florida?
Florida's construction boom, driven by population growth and coastal infrastructure investment, keeps demand for estimators consistently high. Employers filing H-1B petitions must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific county where the role is based, and wages differ across Florida metros. Candidates with experience in hurricane-resilient construction methods or coastal engineering may find their specialization particularly relevant to Florida-based employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored estimator jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
