Which companies sponsor visas for estimators in Texas?
Large engineering and construction firms are the most consistent sponsors for estimator roles in Texas. Companies like Fluor, KBR, Jacobs Engineering, and Turner Construction have established immigration programs and regularly file H-1B petitions for cost estimators and project estimators. Oil and gas contractors operating out of Houston also sponsor frequently, particularly for candidates with upstream or downstream project experience.
Which visa types are most common for estimator roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa for estimator roles in Texas, particularly for positions requiring a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or quantity surveying. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. Candidates already authorized under OPT or STEM OPT are also actively recruited by Texas firms before employers pursue full H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Texas have the most estimator sponsorship jobs?
Houston leads the state for estimator sponsorship opportunities, driven by its concentration of energy, petrochemical, and large-scale infrastructure contractors. Dallas-Fort Worth is the second strongest market, with commercial construction and general contracting firms actively hiring. Austin's ongoing construction boom has increased demand as well, particularly for estimators with experience in residential and mixed-use development projects.
How to find estimator visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find estimator roles in Texas where employers are open to visa sponsorship. You can filter specifically by role and state to see active listings from construction, engineering, and energy companies. Focusing your search on Houston and Dallas will surface the highest volume of sponsored estimator positions, particularly from large contractors and project management firms with existing immigration infrastructure.
Are there state-specific considerations for estimators seeking visa sponsorship in Texas?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations under H-1B Labor Condition Applications since total compensation structures differ from high-tax states. Estimators targeting Texas should be aware that many roles sit within the construction and energy sectors, which have distinct seasonality and project cycles. University programs at UT Austin and Texas A&M produce strong local pipelines, so sponsored candidates often need specialized international project experience to stand out.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored estimator jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
