Which companies sponsor visas for machine learning engineers in Florida?
Florida-based employers with a track record of sponsoring machine learning engineers include Lockheed Martin and L3Harris in the Orlando defense corridor, Chewy and Citi in South Florida, and AdventHealth and Tampa General Hospital on the healthtech side. Large tech consultancies with Florida offices, such as Accenture and IBM, also regularly file H-1B petitions for ML engineering roles.
Which visa types are most common for machine learning engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for machine learning engineers in Florida, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates with advanced degrees may also see employers pursuing the H-1B cap-exempt master's pathway. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa as an alternative, and some candidates already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT transition through employer-sponsored H-1B petitions.
Which cities in Florida have the most machine learning engineer sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads in volume, driven by a growing fintech, healthtech, and tech startup ecosystem. Orlando is a strong second, particularly for ML engineers interested in defense, simulation, and aerospace employers concentrated around the I-4 corridor. Tampa is notable for financial services and cybersecurity firms. Gainesville and Boca Raton see activity tied to university research commercialization, with employers recruiting from the University of Florida and Florida Atlantic University talent pipelines.
How to find machine learning engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters machine learning engineer roles in Florida by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you from manually screening hundreds of postings. Beyond browsing Migrate Mate, targeting Florida employers with a history of H-1B filings in ML-adjacent roles, such as defense primes, major health systems, and fintech firms, improves your odds of finding employers already familiar with the sponsorship process.
Are there any Florida-specific factors machine learning engineers should know about visa sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since employers must still meet federal Department of Labor wage requirements for the relevant Standard Occupational Classification code and geographic area. Orlando and Miami have distinct wage tiers under DOL's prevailing wage data, so an offer in a smaller metro may benchmark differently. Florida's concentration of federal defense contractors also means some ML roles may require U.S. citizenship or security clearance eligibility, which excludes most visa-sponsored candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored machine learning engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
