Which companies in Utah sponsor visas for machine learning engineers?
Adobe, Qualtrics, Ancestry, and Goldman Sachs (which has a significant Salt Lake City engineering hub) have filed H-1B petitions for ML-related roles in Utah. Beyond large employers, Silicon Slopes startups in health tech and fintech, including companies like Podium and Pattern, also hire ML engineers and have pursued visa sponsorship for international candidates.
Which visa types are most common for machine learning engineer roles in Utah?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for machine learning engineers in Utah. ML engineering meets the specialty occupation standard because the role typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a directly related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability may also pursue the O-1A, and those on F-1 OPT with a STEM degree can work for up to three years before needing H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Utah have the most machine learning engineer sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and Provo-Orem account for the large majority of ML engineering roles in Utah. Salt Lake City hosts corporate engineering offices for companies like Adobe and Goldman Sachs, while Provo is home to Qualtrics and a dense cluster of Silicon Slopes startups. Lehi, situated between the two cities, has also emerged as a notable hub for tech hiring.
How to find machine learning engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that include visa sponsorship, so you can search machine learning engineer positions in Utah without sifting through postings from employers who won't sponsor. The platform surfaces opportunities across Salt Lake City, Provo, and Lehi, covering both established tech companies and Silicon Slopes startups that have a history of hiring international ML talent.
Are there any Utah-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for machine learning engineers?
Utah's relatively lower cost of living compared to California tech hubs means prevailing wage requirements for ML engineering roles are generally set at levels that Utah employers can meet comfortably, which can make sponsorship more straightforward to initiate. The University of Utah and Brigham Young University also produce ML graduates who enter the local talent pipeline, giving employers familiarity with sponsoring international students already embedded in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored machine learning engineer jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
