Which companies in Idaho sponsor visas for ML engineers?
Micron Technology in Boise is among the most active Idaho employers sponsoring H-1B visas for engineering and data science roles, including ML engineers. Clearwater Analytics, a Boise-based fintech firm, has also filed sponsorships for technical positions. Smaller SaaS and healthtech startups in the Treasure Valley occasionally sponsor as well, though at lower volumes than the larger anchor employers.
Which visa types are most common for ML engineer roles in Idaho?
The H-1B is the most common visa for ML engineers in Idaho, as machine learning roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization are also commonly hired, giving employers a bridge period before committing to H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Idaho have the most ML engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Boise accounts for the overwhelming majority of ML engineer sponsorship activity in Idaho. The city hosts Micron Technology's significant U.S. operations, Clearwater Analytics' headquarters, and a growing cluster of fintech and data-driven startups. Meridian and Nampa, both within the Treasure Valley metro, occasionally appear in sponsorship filings as employers expand into surrounding areas.
How to find ml engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Idaho employers actively hiring ML engineers and willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through general job postings, you can browse roles in Idaho already tagged for sponsorship, which is particularly useful given that Boise's tech market is smaller and sponsoring employers are fewer than in major coastal hubs.
Are there any Idaho-specific considerations for ML engineers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Idaho's relatively small tech market means fewer overall sponsoring employers compared to states like California or Washington, so competition for sponsored ML roles is concentrated among a handful of companies. Boise State University's computer science and data programs have built local hiring pipelines, which some employers leverage before seeking international candidates. The lower cost of living in Boise can influence prevailing wage determinations under the Labor Condition Application process, which employers must complete before sponsoring an H-1B.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ml engineer jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
