Which companies in Illinois sponsor visas for business intelligence engineers?
Illinois-based employers with a track record of H-1B sponsorship for business intelligence engineers include Discover Financial Services, Motorola Solutions, United Airlines, Walgreens Boots Alliance, and Hyatt. Chicago's concentration of financial services, healthcare, and logistics companies means BI engineering roles appear regularly at mid-size and enterprise employers, not just large tech firms. DOL H-1B disclosure data confirms active filings across these sectors.
Which visa types are most common for business intelligence engineer roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for business intelligence engineers in Illinois, as BI engineering typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. OPT and STEM OPT extensions are also common for graduates from Illinois universities before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship. Some roles at multinational firms may also use the L-1B for intracompany transfers.
Which cities in Illinois have the most business intelligence engineer sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of business intelligence engineer sponsorship jobs in Illinois. The Loop, River North, and the West Loop tech corridor concentrate most of the employer activity, particularly in finance, healthcare, and enterprise software. Schaumburg, Deerfield, and Oak Brook also have sponsoring employers, mostly large corporate headquarters with established immigration programs and in-house BI teams.
How to find business intelligence engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can search business intelligence engineer roles in Illinois without sifting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces roles from companies with documented H-1B filing histories, which is particularly useful for Illinois, where BI demand spans finance, healthcare, and logistics. Filtering by state and role together significantly narrows results to actionable opportunities.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for business intelligence engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Illinois follows federal prevailing wage requirements, so employers must pay H-1B holders wages that meet DOL wage levels for the Chicago metropolitan area, which tends to reflect a higher cost-of-living market. The University of Illinois system, Northwestern, and DePaul produce a steady pipeline of BI-relevant graduates, and many Illinois employers are experienced with OPT-to-H-1B transitions. Companies in heavily regulated industries like banking and insurance may have more established immigration support infrastructure.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business intelligence engineer jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
