Which companies in Illinois sponsor visas for learning program managers?
Large Chicago-based employers are the most active sponsors for learning program manager roles. Companies like McDonald's, Morningstar, Hyatt, United Airlines, and Salesforce have histories of H-1B sponsorship for corporate learning and talent development positions. Consulting firms and financial institutions headquartered in the Loop, including Accenture and Northern Trust, also sponsor for instructional design and learning program management roles regularly.
Which visa types are most common for learning program manager roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa for learning program manager positions in Illinois, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in instructional design, organizational development, human resources, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation requirement. Candidates with advanced degrees may also explore the H-1B under the master's cap. Those with extraordinary ability in learning and development could qualify for the O-1, though that standard is demanding.
Which cities in Illinois have the most learning program manager sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the vast majority of learning program manager sponsorship opportunities in Illinois. The city's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large consulting firms, and major healthcare systems creates consistent demand. Suburbs like Deerfield, Schaumburg, and Oak Brook also host corporate campuses, including Walgreens Boots Alliance and Motorola Solutions, where learning and development teams are established and occasionally sponsor international candidates.
How to find learning program manager visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Illinois employers actively hiring learning program managers who will sponsor. Rather than sorting through general postings, you can search directly for learning program manager roles in Illinois where sponsorship is confirmed. Migrate Mate is designed for international candidates, so the results are already filtered for H-1B and other sponsorship-eligible positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for learning program managers pursuing sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois employers filing H-1B petitions for learning program managers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which are benchmarked to the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metropolitan statistical area. This metro wage level tends to be higher than rural Illinois benchmarks, so job seekers should focus on Chicago-area postings. Northwestern University, University of Illinois, and DePaul University also produce graduates who enter this field, contributing to a competitive candidate pool in the region.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored learning program manager jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
