Which companies sponsor visas for logistics specialists in Illinois?
Several large Illinois-based employers have sponsored work visas for logistics specialist roles, including Amazon, Echo Global Logistics, Coyote Logistics (a UPS subsidiary), C.H. Robinson, and United Airlines. Multinational manufacturers with major Illinois operations, such as Caterpillar and Abbott, also sponsor logistics professionals. Sponsorship history can vary by year and business need, so confirming with each employer directly is always advisable.
Which visa types are most common for logistics specialist roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for logistics specialists in Illinois, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a closely related field. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT authorization are often well-positioned to transition into employer-sponsored H-1B status.
Which cities in Illinois have the most logistics specialist sponsorship jobs?
Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, particularly Itasca, Naperville, Schaumburg, and Elk Grove Village, account for the large majority of logistics specialist openings in Illinois. This concentration reflects the region's role as the largest inland freight hub in North America. Smaller clusters exist near Joliet and Romeoville, where major distribution centers for retailers and third-party logistics providers are concentrated.
How to find logistics specialist visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters logistics specialist openings in Illinois by visa sponsorship availability, saving significant time compared to manually screening postings. Search by role and state on Migrate Mate to surface employers with active sponsorship histories. Pairing that with outreach to supply chain recruiters who specialize in the Chicago market can strengthen your pipeline further.
Are there state-specific considerations for logistics specialists seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal standards, but the Illinois Department of Employment Security sets prevailing wage benchmarks that can influence H-1B Labor Condition Application filings. The University of Illinois and Northwestern University produce a steady pipeline of supply chain graduates, creating competition for entry-level roles. Candidates with specialized credentials in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or transportation management systems tend to stand out to Illinois sponsors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored logistics specialist jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
