Which companies sponsor visas for engineering project managers in Indiana?
Indiana's largest visa sponsors for engineering project managers include Cummins, Eli Lilly, Rolls-Royce, Salesforce, and Raytheon Technologies, with most activity concentrated in manufacturing and life sciences. Smaller tier-one automotive suppliers in the Indianapolis and Greensburg corridors also file H-1B visa petitions for project management roles, particularly for candidates with mechanical, industrial, or systems engineering backgrounds.
Which visa types are most common for engineering project manager roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for engineering project managers in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may pursue the TN visa under the USMCA, and those with extraordinary achievement records may qualify for the O-1A. L-1 visa transfers are also used when a multinational employer moves an existing employee into a project management position at an Indiana facility.
How to find engineering project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is a focused job board for international candidates where you can filter engineering project manager roles specifically in Indiana by visa sponsorship status. Because Indiana's sponsorship activity is spread across manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and defense contractors rather than concentrated in one sector, using Migrate Mate to narrow results by state and role saves significant research time compared to browsing general postings.
Which cities in Indiana have the most engineering project manager sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the largest share of engineering project manager sponsorship activity in Indiana, driven by Eli Lilly's global headquarters, Cummins' corporate operations, and a growing technology sector. Columbus is notable for Cummins' engineering campus. Fort Wayne has active manufacturing employers including Raytheon and BAE Systems. Lafayette and West Lafayette see sponsorship tied to Purdue University's research partnerships and the surrounding industrial corridor.
Are there state-specific considerations for engineering project managers pursuing sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana's manufacturing and life sciences concentration means employers filing H-1B petitions for engineering project managers frequently cite Department of Labor prevailing wage determinations tied to industrial or mechanical engineering classifications. Purdue University graduates represent a meaningful pipeline into sponsored roles, and some Indiana employers have established relationships with international students completing engineering degrees there. Project managers with PMP certification or specialized domain knowledge in automotive, pharmaceutical, or defense manufacturing are better positioned for sponsorship relative to generalist applicants.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering project manager jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
