Which companies in Kansas sponsor visas for engineering project managers?
Aerospace manufacturers in Wichita, including Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation, have histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for engineering roles. Energy companies like Evergy and utilities serving the state also hire engineering project managers with sponsorship. Engineering and construction firms operating in the Kansas City metro, such as Burns & McDonnell, are among the more active sponsors for project management positions in the region.
What visa types are most commonly used for engineering project manager roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for engineering project managers in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may also qualify under the TN visa. Multinational professionals transferring within the same company sometimes use the L-1A or L-1B, depending on their role classification.
How to find engineering project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify engineering project manager openings in Kansas without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by job title and state to surface positions from aerospace, energy, and construction employers across Wichita and the Kansas City metro who have actively filed sponsorship paperwork for similar roles in the past.
Which cities in Kansas have the most engineering project manager sponsorship jobs?
Wichita is the primary concentration point for engineering project manager roles with visa sponsorship in Kansas, driven by the city's aerospace manufacturing base. The Kansas City metro area, which straddles the Kansas-Missouri border, is the second significant market, particularly for infrastructure, construction, and utilities project management. Overland Park and Lenexa, as part of the broader metro, also see engineering employer activity.
Are there any Kansas-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for engineering project managers?
Kansas engineering project manager roles are concentrated in sectors with specific technical degree expectations, particularly aerospace and energy, so employers typically require an engineering bachelor's degree for H-1B specialty occupation classification. The state's aerospace industry, centered in Wichita, has a pipeline of engineering talent from Wichita State University, which means international candidates often compete alongside locally trained graduates. Prevailing wage requirements apply statewide and are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific occupation and geographic area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored engineering project manager jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
