Which companies sponsor visas for principal devops engineers in Massachusetts?
Large technology employers such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google have offices in the Greater Boston area and have historically sponsored H-1B visas for senior engineering roles. Life sciences companies including Biogen, Moderna, and Pfizer's Cambridge operations also hire at the principal level and sponsor immigration. Financial services firms and cloud-infrastructure scale-ups headquartered along the Route 128 corridor are additional active sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for principal devops engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for principal devops engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically requires a specialized bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1A or L-1B status through a multinational employer are another common group. Senior engineers with extraordinary ability credentials sometimes pursue the O-1A, and Canadian or Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa in the computer systems analyst category.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most principal devops engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest concentration of sponsored principal devops engineer positions, driven by the Seaport innovation district, Kendall Square's life sciences and technology cluster, and the presence of major cloud and financial technology employers. Waltham and Burlington along the Route 128 corridor host significant corporate technology campuses. Somerville and Quincy have seen growing activity from mid-size technology companies expanding outside the urban core.
How to find principal devops engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search principal devops engineer positions in Massachusetts without manually screening each posting. Because sponsorship details are often buried in job descriptions or omitted entirely, a dedicated sponsorship-focused board reduces the time spent on roles that will not support your visa. Migrate Mate's filters let you narrow by state and seniority level.
What state-specific factors should principal devops engineers know before applying in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts employers filing H-1B petitions must meet the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the specific role and location, and Greater Boston's prevailing wages for principal-level devops engineers reflect the region's competitive compensation market. The state's density of research universities, including MIT and Harvard, creates a strong pipeline of competing candidates at the senior level. Employers in regulated industries such as life sciences and financial services may also require security reviews that extend the overall hiring timeline.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored principal devops engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
