Which companies sponsor visas for AI ML engineers in Minnesota?
UnitedHealth Group, Optum, and 3M are among the most active H-1B visa sponsors for AI and ML engineering roles in Minnesota, based on Department of Labor LCA disclosure data. Mayo Clinic sponsors ML engineers in its Rochester operations, and mid-size fintech and healthtech firms across the Twin Cities metro also file regularly for machine learning positions.
Which visa types are most common for AI ML engineering roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most common visa for AI and ML engineers in Minnesota, as these roles consistently qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field. International candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the engineer or computer systems analyst category, which has no lottery and can be processed at the border.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most AI ML engineering sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul account for the large majority of AI and ML engineering sponsorship activity in Minnesota. The broader Twin Cities metro, including suburbs like Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, and Plymouth, hosts most of the state's major tech and healthcare employers. Rochester sees demand tied specifically to Mayo Clinic's data science and clinical AI initiatives.
How to find ai ml engineering visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship, which is useful when searching for AI and ML engineering positions in Minnesota. You can filter by state and job category to surface relevant openings at healthcare technology companies, enterprise software firms, and research-driven employers in the Twin Cities metro who actively hire international candidates.
Are there any state-specific considerations for AI ML engineers seeking visa sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota's AI and ML hiring is heavily concentrated in healthcare technology, which means many roles require familiarity with regulated data environments such as HIPAA-compliant systems. The University of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities produce a strong pipeline of graduate-level ML talent, so employer expectations for technical depth tend to be high. Candidates on OPT or STEM OPT should confirm their university's DSO reporting requirements with their international office before accepting offers in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai ml engineering jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
