Job Description
The Distributed Construction team at MiTek is transforming the construction industry by advancing a digitally enabled, data-driven approach to design, manufacturing, and delivery. Leveraging BIM/VDC, advanced manufacturing, and industrial engineering principles to redefine how buildings are planned and executed at scale.
The Industrial Engineer is a hands-on, technical contributor position responsible for owning, maintaining, updating, and executing decision-support algorithms that inform logistics, supply chain, and operations decisions across modular construction projects. This role will focus on ensuring that analytical models and algorithms are robust, scalable, and consistently applied to new projects, while also improving them over time based on learnings, data, and evolving business needs. This role bridges theory and execution by turning industrial engineering methods into repeatable, production-ready decision-support tools.
Job Responsibilities & Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain decision-support algorithms and analytical models used across the distributed construction platform (e.g., inventory optimization, line balancing, labor planning, capacity planning, and logistics design)
- Execute and adapt decision-support models for new volumetric construction projects, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and relevance to project-specific assumptions
- Update, refine, and enhance optimization, simulation, heuristic, and meta-heuristic algorithms based on new data, business learnings, operational feedback, and changing constraints
- Partner closely with the Sr. Manager, Decision Support to translate strategic intent into executable, scalable analytical solutions
- Collaborate with technology and data engineering teams to support deployment, versioning, documentation, and maintainability of decision-support tools
- Prepare simulation models, scenarios, and what-if analyses to evaluate tradeoffs and support informed decision-making
- Reconcile model assumptions and outputs with actual operational performance; identify gaps and improvement opportunities
- Prepare clear, concise outputs (models, summaries, and visualizations) for internal stakeholders and leadership reviews
- Maintain and update documentation of algorithms, assumptions, inputs, and outputs to ensure accuracy, transparency and repeatability
- Conduct ad hoc analyses in support of innovation pilots, new concepts, and operational problem-solving
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics or closely related field required
- 3-6 years of relevant experience applying quantitative models in operations, supply chain, logistics, or applied research environments required
- Proficiency in Python, including experience with Pandas, NumPy, optimization solver APIs (e.g. Gurobi), and data visualization libraries required
- Hands-on experience building and applying linear, integer, mixed‑integer, and nonlinear optimization models required
- Hands‑on experience with heuristics and/or meta‑heuristics (e.g., rule‑based heuristics, genetic algorithms, simulated annealing, tabu search, or related techniques) required
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience querying, validating, and reconciling structured datasets required
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for modeling, analysis, and executive-ready communication required
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD coursework or research experience is a plus
- Experience using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire, Qlik) to communicate analytical insights effectively preferred
- Experience with discrete-event agent-based simulation frameworks is strongly preferred
- Experience applying AI assisted analytics—including predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and rule based or automated pattern detection techniques—to support data collection, data validation, prediction, and analytical workflow automation and optimization in decision support or operations contexts; machine learning experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Dash or building interactive analytical applications is a plus
- Familiarity with modern analytics and data science concepts, including model lifecycle management and continuous improvement is a plus
Additional Requirements:
- 10% travel as needed for on-site support and meetings
MiTek Perks:
- Generous time off including Paid Time Off, 13 annual holidays, and volunteer time off
- Day One Medical/Rx, Dental and Vision Plans
- Family friendly benefits including Paid Caregiver Leave, Paid Parental Leave and Adoption Reimbursement
- Performance/Incentive bonuses
- Career advancement, training opportunities, Employee Resource Groups, and tuition reimbursement
- Retirement programs including Matching 401(k) Contributions and Profit Sharing
- Employer paid Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance

Which companies sponsor visas for operations engineers in Missouri?
Boeing's St. Louis operations, Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in Kansas City, Emerson Electric, and Anheuser-Busch InBev have established H-1B sponsorship track records for operations engineering roles. Large logistics and distribution companies tied to Missouri's central corridor also file LCAs regularly. Sponsorship tends to concentrate at larger enterprises with dedicated HR and legal infrastructure, rather than smaller regional firms.
Which visa types are most common for operations engineer roles in Missouri?
The H-1B is the most common visa for operations engineers in Missouri, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as industrial, systems, or mechanical engineering. TN status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering classifications. Candidates already holding an O-1 or transferring an L-1 from a multinational employer are also well-positioned for Missouri-based roles.
How to find operations engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search operations engineer roles in Missouri without sifting through positions that don't sponsor. Kansas City and St. Louis account for the majority of sponsored openings in this field. Migrate Mate's board surfaces roles from manufacturing, technology, and logistics employers that have active sponsorship histories, saving significant time in the search process.
Which cities in Missouri have the most operations engineer sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis and Kansas City generate the overwhelming majority of sponsored operations engineer openings in Missouri. St. Louis draws from aerospace, defense, and chemical manufacturing sectors, with Boeing and Emerson Electric as anchor employers. Kansas City's technology and healthcare IT growth, anchored by Oracle Health's headquarters, has expanded demand for operations engineers with software and systems integration backgrounds. Smaller markets like Columbia see occasional openings tied to university-affiliated employers.
Are there state-specific factors that affect operations engineer sponsorship in Missouri?
Missouri does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal H-1B obligations, but prevailing wage compliance is particularly relevant here. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for operations engineers vary between the St. Louis and Kansas City metro areas, and employers must certify the offered wage meets the applicable level on the Labor Condition Application. Missouri's manufacturing concentration also means many roles involve shift-based or on-site requirements, which can affect LCA filing specifics.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored operations engineer jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
