Tips for Finding H-2B Sponsorship Jobs in Montana
Target resort and ski towns first
Big Sky Resort, Whitefish Mountain Resort, and properties near Glacier National Park file H-2B petitions heavily for seasonal staff. Focusing your search on these resort corridors significantly improves your odds of finding active sponsorship.
Align your timing with Montana's two peak seasons
H-2B demand in Montana spikes twice: summer outdoor recreation season (May through September) and winter ski season (November through March). Apply well in advance of each peak, as employers file petitions months before their start dates.
Look beyond hotels to the full hospitality supply chain
Montana H-2B sponsorship extends to rafting outfitters, guest ranches, golf courses, and campground operations, not just hotels. These smaller outdoor recreation employers often face less competition for workers and file petitions regularly.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for Montana H-2B roles
Migrate Mate's job board lets you filter specifically by visa type and state, so you can browse active H-2B sponsorship listings in Montana without sorting through jobs that don't offer sponsorship at all.
Check landscaping and groundskeeping employers in Bozeman and Missoula
Montana's faster-growing cities have active landscaping and groundskeeping companies that regularly sponsor H-2B workers through the summer season. These employers are often overlooked compared to resort operators but file petitions consistently.
Verify employer petition history through DOL disclosure data
The Department of Labor publishes H-2B employer petition disclosures publicly. Searching Montana employer names there confirms which businesses have a real track record of filing, saving you from pursuing employers who have never sponsored before.

Which industries in Montana sponsor the most H-2B visas?
Hospitality and outdoor recreation lead H-2B visa sponsorship in Montana by a significant margin. Ski resorts, guest ranches, rafting and adventure tour operators, hotels, and lodges near Glacier and Yellowstone are the most active filers. Landscaping companies and food processing operations in agricultural areas also sponsor H-2B workers regularly during peak seasons.
Which cities in Montana have the most H-2B sponsorship jobs?
The highest concentration of H-2B sponsorship activity in Montana clusters around Big Sky, Whitefish, and the Flathead Valley near Glacier National Park, where resort and hospitality employers dominate. Bozeman and Missoula also have active H-2B markets driven by landscaping, food service, and hospitality businesses serving both residents and a growing tourist population.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in Montana?
H-2B roles in Montana are almost entirely in temporary, non-agricultural work: ski lift operators, housekeeping staff, food and beverage workers, trail guides, landscaping laborers, groundskeepers, and resort maintenance workers. These positions qualify because they are seasonal or peak-load in nature, meaning the employer can demonstrate the need is temporary rather than ongoing.
How do I find H-2B sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and lets you filter job listings by visa type and state, making it straightforward to find employers actively offering H-2B sponsorship in Montana. You can also cross-reference the DOL's H-2B employer petition disclosure database to confirm which Montana businesses have a history of sponsoring workers before you apply.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
