Sports H-2B Sponsorship Jobs in Montana
Montana's ski resorts, fly-fishing outfitters, and national park concessionaires drive consistent H-2B visa demand for sports and recreation workers each season. Employers like Big Sky Resort, Glacier Park Lodge operators, and Yellowstone concession companies file H-2B petitions for roles that peak outside the permanent workforce. Competition is seasonal and position-limited, so timing your search early matters.

Which sports and recreation companies in Montana sponsor H-2B visas?
Montana's H-2B sports sponsorship activity is concentrated among ski resort operators, national park concessionaries, and outfitting companies. Big Sky Resort, Whitefish Mountain Resort, and Glacier National Park lodge operators have historically filed H-2B petitions for seasonal recreation roles. Fly-fishing guide services in the Gallatin and Madison River corridors also participate, though petition volume varies by season and annual cap availability.
Which cities in Montana have the most sports H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Big Sky and Whitefish see the highest concentration of sports H-2B activity due to their major ski resorts. West Glacier and the Flathead Valley host national park concession employers with recurring seasonal needs. Bozeman serves as a regional hub for outfitting and guide services along major trout rivers. Smaller gateway communities near Yellowstone's northern entrance, such as Gardiner, also generate H-2B petitions from recreation operators.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in Montana?
H-2B covers temporary nonagricultural positions, so qualifying sports roles are those seasonal employers cannot fill locally. In Montana, this includes ski lift operators, snow grooming technicians, snowboard and ski rental technicians, river rafting guides, trail crew workers for resort properties, and recreation attendants at national park lodges. Roles must be tied to a defined peak season with a clear end date to meet H-2B's temporary-need standard.
How do I find sports H-2B sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for H-2B sports and recreation roles in Montana, surfacing employers with verified sponsorship history so you can focus on companies that have already navigated the petition process. Because H-2B positions fill quickly once DOL certifies a petition, searching early in the pre-season window, typically late summer for winter roles and late winter for summer roles, gives you the best chance of connecting with active sponsors.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2B sports sponsorship in Montana?
Montana's H-2B market is heavily shaped by its two distinct tourism seasons: winter ski season peaking December through March and summer outdoor season peaking June through August. Employers must demonstrate a genuine temporary need tied to these peaks, and petitions filed after the H-2B cap is reached in a given half-year period cannot be approved until the next allocation. Montana's remote geography also means employers often sponsor housing alongside the position, which is worth confirming during the application process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B sports jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
