Which sports and recreation companies in Washington sponsor H-2B visas?
Ski resorts and mountain recreation operators are among the most consistent H-2B visa sponsors in Washington. Crystal Mountain, Stevens Pass, and White Pass have filed Labor Condition Applications for seasonal workers in past years. Outdoor recreation outfitters, golf course operators, and sports facility management companies in the greater Seattle and Spokane areas also participate in the H-2B program during peak seasons.
Which cities in Washington have the most sports H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Mountain resort towns in the Cascades, particularly around Crystal Mountain and Stevens Pass, generate concentrated seasonal H-2B demand each winter. Spokane supports outdoor recreation hiring tied to its parks system and regional sports facilities. Seattle-area operators contribute positions in marine recreation, sports facility staffing, and outdoor activity instruction, with hiring peaking in both summer and winter seasons depending on the employer.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in Washington?
H-2B covers temporary, non-agricultural positions where the employer can demonstrate a seasonal or peak-load need. In Washington's sports sector, qualifying roles commonly include ski lift operators, snowsports instructors, outdoor recreation guides, golf course grounds crew, fitness facility attendants, and sports event support staff. The position must be temporary in nature, and employers must complete DOL certification before sponsoring workers.
How do I find sports H-2B sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate lists verified H-2B sponsorship positions in Washington's sports and recreation sector, pulling from DOL Labor Condition Application data so you can see which employers have active filings. Filter by state and visa type to surface ski resort, outdoor recreation, and sports facility roles specific to Washington. Employers who have previously sponsored H-2B workers are the strongest candidates to approach during their seasonal hiring windows.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2B sports jobs in Washington?
Washington's strong outdoor recreation economy means H-2B demand follows distinct seasonal patterns: winter positions concentrate at Cascade ski resorts from November through March, while summer openings center on water sports, hiking guides, and golf operations. Washington state has its own labor regulations, including minimum wage requirements, that apply alongside federal H-2B prevailing wage rules. Employers must satisfy both state and federal wage standards when sponsoring H-2B workers.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B sports jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
