Which food & beverage companies sponsor H-2B visas in Washington?
Washington employers with documented H-2B visa filing history in food and beverage include seafood processors such as Trident Seafoods and Pacific Seafood, fruit packing and cold-storage operations in the Yakima and Wenatchee valleys, and some winery production facilities in the Columbia Valley. DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data, searchable through OFLC records, shows which specific employers have filed for H-2B workers in prior seasons.
Which cities in Washington have the most food & beverage H-2B sponsorship jobs?
H-2B food and beverage sponsorship activity in Washington is concentrated outside major metro areas. Yakima, Wenatchee, and the Tri-Cities region see high seasonal demand from fruit packing and processing operations. Coastal communities including Bellingham, Anacortes, and Kodiak-adjacent supply-chain hubs support seafood processing. Sunnyside and Prosser in the Yakima Valley also host winery and agricultural processing employers with recurring seasonal H-2B needs.
What types of food & beverage roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B covers temporary non-agricultural positions, so qualifying food and beverage roles in Washington typically include seafood processing workers, cannery line operators, fruit and vegetable sorters and packers, cold-storage loaders, and seasonal winery production assistants. These roles must be tied to a defined peak season or one-time event and cannot be ongoing year-round positions. The employer must demonstrate that qualified U.S. workers are unavailable for the period.
How do I find food & beverage H-2B sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate lists food and beverage H-2B sponsorship jobs in Washington and filters results by employer filing history, so you can identify companies that have completed the H-2B certification process in prior seasons. Search by the food and beverage category and filter to Washington to see active and historically active sponsors. Reviewing employers with prior DOL certifications gives a more reliable starting point than searching general job boards where sponsorship status is often unverified.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2B food & beverage sponsorship in Washington?
Washington's H-2B food and beverage market is heavily tied to seasonal harvest and fishing cycles, which means petition timing is critical. Employers must file well before peak season begins, and the H-2B cap fills quickly each fiscal year. Washington's significant agricultural processing and seafood industries mean competition for cap-subject slots can be high. Workers and employers should confirm whether a role falls under agricultural or non-agricultural rules, as H-2A visa covers crop harvest work while H-2B applies to processing and packing.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B food & beverage jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
